Note: Sorry, when I posted part 1 it somehow replaced the Introduction!
When I first started to build Alligator Lines the idea of having a history for it never even entered my head! I simply wanted to build a model railroad, have fun and learn as much I could about the various processes.
Shortly after becoming involved with nScale.net I realized that a lot of people had histories for their model railroads and that some had obviously spent a lot of time on them! In time I became enthralled with the histories of two model railroads in particular! I was starting to get inspired!
And so the history of Alligator Lines started to take shape!
It will be presented in three parts. The first will focus on how the birth of the railroad; the second on how it grew and the final part will cover it reached it current stature.
I particularly want to acknowledge 69Z28 (Ron) and Komata (Keith) for their encouragement, advise and suggestions! (In case you hadn’t guessed, it was the histories of their respective railroads that provided my inspiration). Without them the story line would have remained essentially the same but I don’t think it would have been such an enjoyable read!
Aside: I have done a lot of technical and tutorial writing over the years but never any stories. At least not since school when I drove my English teach crazy with my compositions which were based on my current reading (Raymond Chandler novels) or blood and guts war stories!
Watch out for the three blog entries! Part 1 should appear later today or tomorrow with parts 2 and 3 following shortly there after!
This history will also appear, at a later date, on my website in the Miscellaneous pages.
