Like so many others I have acquired more locomotives and rolling stock than I can realistically fit on my layout at any one time. Not hard to do with a small layout!
Up to this point everything has been sitting in an open area in middle of one side of of the layout. Eventually a town will be going here. While the town is still a little ways away it seemed time to do something about clearing this "Storage" area now. It was providing a somewhat messy background for some the lates1 pictures and it was very hard to visualize things with the area being used as it currently is!
After some Internet searching I found what seemed to an excellent solution. A company called sfDisplay.com make a series of reasonably priced displayed cases in several different finishes. My wife offered to buy me one for Christmas so an order was placed. here is a link to the product: http://www.sfdisplay.com/cgi-bin/egb/egb.cgi?page=../products/products_Trains.html
The display case shipped the same day it was ordered and arrived when promised, five days later. It was packed very well and had no damage whatsoever.
It has a beautiful finish (I chose Cherry) and hangs on the wall via two clips similar to those used for paintings. It will definitely need some secure anchors! The unit weighs 13 pounds plus the weight of whatever you place in it, so make sure your anchors are adequate!
The front swings up and, when down, is held in place by two clips on the bottom. When raised, it remains in the raised position, without assistance, to help in the loading operation! (I would be a little leery about leaving it in this position for too long. If it should fall forward there is an excellent chance the glass would break. Note: The glass is held in place with a number of clips so it could be replaced if the worst came to the worst).
The seven shelves are the width of the units plus a lip on the front to hold everything in place. The back is a black cloth. I would have liked the width to be a little more than what it is. Many units rub against the back when they are place on the shelves.
Overall this is a very good and reasonably priced product. If you need to store some of your equipment or simply want to display it (rather than hide it), you could do a lot worse than this product.
I will be adding this write up (with additional pictures) to the Miscellaneous section of my web site in the near future.

For those interested the write up on the Display Case has now been added to my web site: Miscellaneous->Display Case. The write up is pretty much the same the above except some measurement information has been added.
Also, there are two additional images (five in all) which may be found at: Images->General
Thank you.

Display Case Question
I love the idea of a good-looking display/storage case that is handy and keeps the dust off as well. A great addition to a great layout!
However, when I went to the seller's website, I couldn't access the page with the N scale version. Would you mind sharing the price with us? Thanks.
N Scale Display Case Link ...
Current sale price is $67.95, it is in stock and they will ship within 24 hours - that according to the page.
Hope this helps.

It looks and sounds good, it is obvious you load and unload it from the front; do the shelfs have rails on them?, or do you place the trains and rolling stock on the shelf itself.
Do you have any trouble picking the stock off the shelf?
I'm asking because I built a shelf three rails deep, it is only a board with cork lining and the rails, but it is a problem to pick the locos or rolling stock from it, disengaging them or reaching in for them, and with any tremor, the rolling units either roll over or simply de-rail.
Well, lazaro, not sure if
Well, lazaro, not sure if you have checked it out but my web site has a complete write up on this display case.
However, in case I missed something or I was not clear enough or didn't address your questions specifically, I hope this will help!
So far as the shelves go, there are no tracks and no grooves to simulate tracks. There is a shelf about the width of a typical piece of N scale equipment with a curved lip on the front and black cloth on the back. The units you place there fit quite snuggly, some more so than others. The space between the back and the lip is not enough to place a piece of track, however, if you trimmed the edges of the track you might be able to get it to fit! Might be worthwhile doing but the lip will hide the track (maybe a good thing?).
To date I have not had any issues in removing items from the shelves. But then again, in all honesty, I have not used it quite as much I thought I would! But you have given me a nudge!

OOooops' sorry Bryan, the column on your web sight only showed the text before the Miscellaneous, and I did not scroll down, so once again I have evidenced my misuse of modern technology, this time I noticed the scroll column, your description is very complete, great text, it sure covers all.
Thanks for the kind response, sorry again, great job
