In the blog entry linked to here I requested suggestions of how I might handle the latest area of Alligator Lines undergoing scenicking! Alligator Lines Scenery Project 10: Suggestions Wanted! As a result I decided to include a hobo camping area along with a couple of tents and an outhouse! The intent is to make this area appear as if it is in a clearing among some trees.
I thought I would share a couple of pictures as the area as it is right now. The camp is in place but the trees have not, as yet, been "planted"! One of the more interesting aspects of this area is that it contains the first "people" to populate my layout!
Speaking of which I used three of Woodland Scenics figure sets. Two Hobos (A2138) and one Campers (A2199). Accessories were used from all sets and the figures cam from the two Hobo sets. Two of the tents are Nucomp's Pup Tents. (See my web site for further information).
I also tried the Woodlands Scenics Gentle Grips for the first time. These are rather large tweezers with rubber ends for holding objects softly and avoiding scratching those objects. I found them to be very clumsy and difficult to manipulate. As a result I went back to my regular needle nose tweezers which worked very well!
The trees will probably go into place after the entire area is otherwise completed (unless the urge strikes to do it sooner, of course!)
Updated October 9, 2008
Well, the urge did strike to do it sooner! I got to thinking about having to reach over that roof top sign on Earl’s and decided to do the trees sooner rather than later.
And the result is pretty good, even if I say so myself! In addition to the normal WS ready made trees that I have used in the past, I also used Heki artline Hanging Birch Trees! (picked up at my LHS and made by a German company)!
Here are a couple of pictures!
I'd really like to thank MooseID for the original suggestion of making this area a hobo camp. It has worked really well!

Hey Bryan - that scene did
Hey Bryan - that scene did turn out quite nicely - three's really do pull things together. Are you planning on adding more to the layout? I noticed that there are few (if any) trees and these few really fleshed out the scene nicely and helped establish some regional geography.
Simply stated - trees: keep adding em'!
Thanks, Bryan,......
...on rare occasion I have a stroke of intelligence. I am glad it turned out so well this time.
Have fun.

Bryan , That looks great.
Bryan , That looks great. It was real kind of the city folk to provide them with an outhouse.
