A long Winter....

Hello all at Nscale.net  After not posting a message in months I finally feel I have something to contribute. This last few months I have been slowly working away at the next section of my pike. This section includes a high level viaduct, 2 water falls, a river, 2 coal mines and the connection to the third and final helix in the plan a 5.5 turn monster stacked over one of the lower helixs. Everything had to be done for this in sequence and some of it was quite tricky so needles to say I've taken my time to get it done in sequence, a challenge for me as I'm the crash through "get'r dun" kind of builder.

In actuality it was the viaduct that caused me the most anxiety and hassles those guard rails could drive a person to G scale! but I followed the excellent articles that were written on the subject by Phil Brooks in Nscale Railroading and I got the bridge in and set correctly. The patience that took was considerable.

After that it was just building and installing the 11.5" vertical climb helix that gets me to the 3rd and final deck.  Today the helix is in and connected, wired and tested and I'm now beginning the mountain that will cover it up.

I've updated the J&J web page as well but I included a few progress shots here.  The water falls on the river use clear silicone feathered out on wax paper then cut to shape and have magic water poured over. First time I 've used that product I need some more practice before I pass judgement.

The Viaduct in place.

All the rock faces are carved blue foam coated with a latex base then coloured with artist acrylics.

Water Fall #1  not bad but I'll probably redo it to get a better top edge.

So that's two heli stacked with a 10" separation  The whole works will be in a mountain soon!

The Mountain begins and to finish off a shot looking back at the finished gorge scene.

Keep on RR.
