Hat River Track Plan

I've also just created a photo album which contains an image of my track plan. (Shown above.)

This is after eight months of constant tinkering, reading, studying, dreaming, questioning and playing the fool. It is fluid (still being changed even now) but I am fairly certain that this is the approximate final result. My table is comprised of 7 modules, 2' X 4', standing 40" high. From right to left it runs 12', down 6', left to right 4', down 4', left to right 8' and then back up 4'.  It is, odviously, a point to point layout.  It features a small Division Point, several sidings, a spur serving a coal mine and a stub yard. A bit of switching and interest. Two turntables. I plan to use senic breaks to give the impression of much more distance. Leaving the Hat River yard for Bear Creek, I will begin a 1% grade up until leveling at the first siding (have not yet decided what will be located there.) Leaving that siding, 2% grade, leveling off at the switch to the coal spur, and 1% until just before leveling off at the Bear Creek yard. The coal spur will continue rising at 2% until leveling off at the sidings there. The Coal mine will be located in a mountainous region, Bear Creek in Hill country and Hat River in prairie country. This is a freelanced plan that, in my mind at least, is set in the 1920s in southern Alberta (my home province). I plan to include a tunnel and a trestle bridge.

I'd welcome any comments.

 Cheers,

Jim R

Looks like it will keep you busy, interesting way to patch the 2x4 modules together.

Thanks. The modules are put

Thanks. The modules are put together that way because of the size and shape of the room. The track plan was then bent to fit.

Cheers.
