What's the hold-up? Getting the LED out.

Waiting on the postman is not like it used to be when I was young. In those days, if you ordered something from a badly reproduced ad in the back of a magazine as a small boy, you were growing a beard by the time said item arrived from Mysterious Dark Warehouse Inc. located in Back Alley, Timbuktu. And even then, when the torn and beaten box showed up at your doorstep, it was probably not the item you expected.

These days, of course, the internet provides us with a 56 million color preview (sometimes a 360 degree view) of any item you can imagine 24 hours a day... and overnight it, should you desire. But if you choose snail mail, the end results might be more accurate... but the wait is still the wait. Because the post is still the post. Ah... waiting.

That's the hold-up on the progression of the Dingmans Falls & Delaware. We wait for the crop of Yellow White LEDs.

We wait because we are fed up with the great harvest of grain-of-wheat bulbs we are forced to purchase from Radio Shack like some third-world country with poor soil. I expect that an incandescent bulb has a short life span... but, for the love of God, can the glue around the structure dry before it burns out? No. scratch that. The glue (as Murphy's Law decrees) will always be dry just as the bulb burns out.

All incandescent bulbs on the DF&D have summarily been outlawed; if only for sanity's sake. No Grain-of Wheat, Grain-of-Rice, Grain-of-Couscous, or what have you. We are switching to the 100,000-Hour-Promised-Land of modern-realistically-colored-LED-bliss. Meat-head-friendly LEDs packing their own pre-umbilically-attached resistors. Hopefully a godsend to those of us that electrical engineers snicker at.

We clink our beers in anticipation.

So the DF&D waits. Waits in white plaster mountain nakedness Waits for the whole electrical bulb replacement issue to resolve, with the few remaining incandescent bulbs glaring defiantly; as if to say, "You see! You see! We work fine! Go ahead and cancel that LED order... we won't burn out... (heh)... we promise!"

We're not falling for it. We'll have another beer and wait for the post.

The only GOW/GOR bulbs....

....that I have seen, that run a long time are operated at half their rated voltage.

Good choice, going LED. Send some pics as soon as you get them in.
