"Fireworks" on Christmas

I got a eightteen 11″ radius curve sections and a LifeLike 0-6-0T engine for Christmas. I set up a simple oval, hooked up the power and it started shooting sparks from under the engine so I turned it off and check the track again, and tried again. I asked around on some railroad sites, and they said clean the track, and pretty much it could be normal. The more I ran it the better it ran however, the speed control has to be turned up to 35-40 before it will move so I believe I am going to take it to Little Choo Choo in Spencer when I go on my (almost) monthly shopping trip. I think I may not have the wiring quite right, maybe too loose. Cleaning work is ongoing on the building, but the good news is my temporary base(folding table) is in place. I am about 70% done with the building, and have yet to get a piece of plywood. It has stopped sparking as of now.
