It's Alive!! Trains are running again.

Finally after a few months of hard work and determination, trains are running again. I have settled on the final design after getting the kinks worked out between paper and reality.

I kind of threw this together with MS Paint. I wish I had the time and patience to work with some of the track plan programs but this will have to do for now. All the track in green is down, wired and carrying freight. The center section on the left is the only part that was left over from the original layout.

A few things about the design:

The weird shape of the table on the right side is to leave room for the attic stairs that fold down from the ceiling.

I kept the same concept of design from the original layout with two separate loops, the red and green, because I am going to keep the old DC block system for now and invest in scenery and buildings before going to DCC. I have dropped feeders roughly every 6 feet for DCC when the time comes. Once the rest of the track is completed I can have two trains running continuously on separate loops with minimal supervision. I can also move one of the 2 power packs to the same loop and have trains waiting on passing tracks or following each other at some distance. As soon as I start with some scenery I will post some pics.
