The NoName gets wired.

I am in the process of wiring for DCC the Layout. The firs thing I will do is run 2 cables across the benchwork to create the DCC power bus. I will use gauge 16 single thread wire bought from my big local hardware store.  I will then connect to my Digitrax zephyr so it wll be ready to take feeds from the rails.

Way to go Tom

Don't know if you are new to DCC or not, but I've had my Zephyr for 3 months and love it.  Knew nothing about DCC and so far have converted 5 engines with plug and play decoders.  Not nearly as hard as I expected.  Keep us posted on your progress.

Bus Wiring

I am looking into DCC and have read that running the bus lines parallel to each other is good technique, but is it required? There are places where I know that I'm going to have to run wires around some benchwork supports and such. I've been working on a layout for a little over a year running DC just to test connections and drop lines. Looking forward to making this transition.

Bus wiring

I am not sure "required" is the right word. You will need to feed current to the track very similar to what you do in DC, just both wires and you do not need to create blocks, except for short circuit isolation and detection and if you want to have multiple power distrits.  I have a single power district and the bus wiring makes it easier to add feeders to the track at the recomended distances.

The BUS wires will

The BUS wires will essentially follow the path of your main... if they have to deviate to get around some bench-work/structure, then so be it... just be mindful of your dropper length... if it gets too long, you'll have to increase its gauge so you don't get a voltage drop... the distance between the two BUS wires is not critical.

And according to:

keep the length of the bus wire from the controller at 30' or less or add the resistor-capacitor terminator

at both ends of the bus as shown on the site.  It is a cool site with lots of stuff...
