Ferromex visits Richmond Pacific Rails

A BNSF light engine move greeted me on Monday night at Marina Bay Parkway grade crossing. It was led by a handsome Ferromex Dash-9 unit. Here’s a few pics.

Squarespace upgrade

FYI. Squarespace, my blog service provider , performed a major system-wide upgrade on Sunday night. This should only have impacted blog authors and administrators, readers and subscribers should not experience any change.

If you have experienced any difficulty with this site, please let me know and I will forward your note to Squarespace for resolution.

Long time, no post…

Reader’s have undoubtedly noticed that this site has been fairly inactive for the past few months. Trust me when I say it has nothing to do with a fleeting love of trains, just that sometime ‘life’ happens! Since my last post my brother-in-law came to live with us for two months, the basement flooded, and [...]

UP Manifest at night

Caught this Roseville-bound Union Pacific train last Friday night on my way home from Emeryville where we saw Wall-e, the new Pixar flick. The manifest was idling beside the parking structure when I got back to my car and it soon throttled up. I waited at the Cedar Street crossing where the power would be working hard to accelerate the train having cleared the crossovers at Emeryville.

I decided to video the train to see how it came out.  Here’s the clip.

Heads up! A new N Scale 44-Tonner is on the way.

Deny Turani sent this in.

Bachmann announced on July 15 that they’ll be producing a GE 44-Tonner in N scale! (You may be interested to know that they also announced a DD40AX at the same time but I don’t see too many of them around here these days so I’ll focus on the switcher!)

Local Richmond Rail Traffic

I arrived back in California from Australia on Sunday and I’m just now getting back into the swing of things. It’s good to be back in a location where I can see trains on a regular basis.  On Monday, I caught two following moves on the local Santa Fe line.

Joe Fugate’s Siskiyou Line video Volume 2

Joe Fugate was kind enough to send me a review set of his Siskiyou Line videos. The five volume set covers almost all aspects of the design, construction, and operation of his HO scale Siskiyou Line layout based on the Southern Pacific’s Siskiyou Line in the 1980’s. Please see my comments on Volume 1 here. Volume 2: [...]

Boxes! Digging out …

This long July 4th weekend has been mainly devoted to getting the whole dang house out of boxes. Fortunately we’re moving from a 1300 square foot condo apartment into a significantly larger house with a workshop/studio outbuilding in the back. Moving from smaller to bigger is almost always the happier direction. My wife and I [...]

Joe Fugate’s Siskiyou Line video Volume 1

The five volume set covers almost all aspects of the design, construction, and operation of his HO scale Siskiyou Line layout based on the Southern Pacific’s Siskiyou Line in the 1980’s.
