Since the last time I posted here Ive purchased my 2nd steam engine a Bachmann 2-6-6-2 H4 Mallet which I love to death. I purchased 2 Kato Maxi IV Pacer tack 3 car sets with containers pretty cool I must say. I built Wooty's Bar and Grill I need to do some touch ups to it but its getting there. I also purchased a set of 11 custom Roadrailer Trailers to go with my current fleet of railroaders. I've made several freight car purchases including several the BLMA 89' Flat cars. Below are some pics for you to drool over lol.

I've thought about starting a series of blogs here where I photograph the prototype railroads and look at their operations, track plans and try to adapt it to N scale. There are plenty of things around here to photograph, and I will still post plenty in the prototype threads. We have plenty of stuff here in Kentucky and surrounding areas for me to look at, and I travel quite often when I go to races. I'm hoping the folks here will find the information useful for their own layouts, and perhaps even incorporate it. My only down side is that I'm not too great with making track plans in N scale, so I may need a little help with that. I've got a couple ideas already that I can try in the near future.

So, any suggestions/ideas?

The image is of the "Spirit of Progress", an interstate express pulled by a streamlined S class in the late 30's, and ran from Melbourne, through the border town of Albury (another story) and on to Sydney. And the same in reverse.
Here down-under, theres a now retired (I think) radio announcer named Clive Robertson. Despite being pretty controversial, I liked him for his intelligence and quick wit.
Robertson, being a Sydney-sider, when reading out the train arrival times, would always refer to the "Spirit of Progress" when it was heading to Sydney, but always called the train when travelling the other way....towards Melbourne, as the "Spirit of Regress"
Cheers,
The reason I'm so excited is that this is a super easy way of making nice looking trees cheaply! I made two for under a dollar. Just need to do some fine-tuning with the color (darker green spray for base). I used WS fine blended turf on top. Brown Sharpie for the trunk.
Gotta say that I'm glad I chose to go with code 55. In my opinion, it's the equivalent of code 83 in HO. I had some code 80 and compared the two and there's quite a difference. I'll be purchasing some switches online though.

My HO layout is all away now and the benchwork (modular) is all separated. I have to focus on one module at a time or else I'll never start. Can't wait!:D

The archives are still good for searching information though, and for that I will remain a member.

It's hard to read thread after thread of negative remarks towards a modeler's hard work, product or vendor, or manufacturing nation. It's only human I guess to have a breaking point, but it's still not pleasant. I'm embarassed to admit that I lashed out recently on several other forums, I called out some malicious and uneccesary behaviour in a malicious and uneccesary way. I don't regret it, and wont' apologize, but I am embarassed that I allowed a silly forum of trolls to get to me.

That said, I'll still be hanging around here, as there is a continuous stream of value comming from NSN. I know I've said thanks before, but thanks again for keeping this place fun. I'll try to keep up my end of the bargain :)

I had to get a Rail Box (Intermountain); for some reason, I just love these cars. I also got a PRR flat car (Athearn) and two MT undecorateds (with Microscale Conrail decals). After looking at the decals, especially the numbers (so small), I'm a little leery that I will do a great job at first. :nope: Any tips will be appreciated. I have placed some pics in my album.

Next, Atlas code 55 track, including a turnout or two! I will get this at my local LHS though. I've already removed the tops of the benchwork from my old HO layout. lol, my wife says the cars are cute, but she likes them more than the HO too. What she doesn't like is the $$ being spent!

Will keep benchwork, but remove the top portion. No plan in mind right at the moment. Excited about the switch though!

By the way, I haven't reached my 10th post yet, so if you try to contact me via pm, I can't respond. :(

Im not sure if its my bad memory or what but I remember having a Kato long engine house but I have no ideal what happend to it. So I purchased one from an online dealer. I forgot that it wasnt built up like most of Katos structures but was a kit. It looks like there are enough parts that you can build two different versions of the kit. I built the standard kit found on the box photo. It was a pretty easy build much much better than any of my scratch building skills thats for sure. I used a little CA to keep the kit together but I think its a snap kit. I left the roof unattached so I can add details to the interior at a later date. Below are some pics of the finished engine house.
I could tell him every thing I know about Nscale in just 10min. but it is cool. He use to work at the LHS for a lot of years. but it closed it's doors last year. So if you seen this sign in your town would you stop?

Detail of the "master" terminal strip, where the main bus from the booster comes in, and the "branch" buses go out to the "leaf" terminal strips. I have since gone back and cleaned up the jumper wires that pair up the screw terminals.

Okay, I am new here so not sure if this is the right place but anyway, here goes. My uncle had given a few of his locomotives when he decided to not model n-scale anymore. Many of them are still in good condition and run well. I currently possess a Minitrix Pennsy 2-10-0 that needs some work. The motor runs great all the gears on the inside move but the left side rod is broken. I am aware that minitrix is out of business so getting factory replacement parts in not an option. Is there anyone out there who has knowledge or can lead me to someone that can repair this? I was thinking if I cannot get it repaired I will salvage the motor and set up a static display of some sort. I would like to see this engine run again though.
