headlight will not switch on a NCE-NMP15 in Atlas MP-15DC

I have fitted a NCE-NMP15 in an Atlas MP-15DC. Apart from setting the road number, all other CV's have not been touched as yet.

 The problem is that only the reverse headlight operates regardless of the direction. It does switch on/off with the HEADLIGHT button, but it will not change direction when the direction is changed.

 Is this likely to be a decoder fault or is there a CV I need to set? I cannot afford to purchase a new decoder just yet bu I may have to to eliminate the decoder.

I am using an NCE PowerCAB.

reset decoder

This is a drop in decoder, right? I looked for some CV information on this one and came up empty. Look at your install instructions, there shoud be some type of info there to do a factory reset. Try that and see if the light works.

Did you happen to test the light befor the DCC install?

CV33 & CV34
While I know this is way late in reply, but it may help you or others in the future. You may have a defective decoder, or you may have inadvertent values in CV33 and CV34, which are for mapping control of the light functions. Normally CV33 is set to 1 to control output 1 headlight in forward direction, and CV34 is set to 2 to control output 2 taillight in reverse direction. If CV33 is set to 2 then the taillight (output 2) will operate in the forward direction instead of the headlight. These CVs have a format similar to CV29 in that each bit controls an output state on or off, using the binary form of the value in the CV will indicate which outputs are on for F0 forward (CV33) and F0 reverse (CV34).
