Who got what for Xmas?... any cool N scale goodies scored?... I didn't directly get anything train related, but I did get some cash, which we all know can be easily converted to trains...

Merry Christmas Bryan - Well, Santa took the hint and brought train related goodies. Bachmann EZ DCC. Since I haven't wired anything other than the current KATO unitrack loop in over 25 years, this should be quite an adventure. First off let me see if I remember how those switches get wired in... Happy Holidays. Tony

Merry christmas All, The N-scale gods were on my side this year, and santa knew the odds were against him...so, he broke down and bought me trains! They never got wrapped, as i was with santa at the time of purchase. Thus far, i've recieved..... ~Black ATLAS CN 90-ton coal hopper with load. ~New M/T Brown CN 100-ton coal hopper with (poorly coloured) load ~A package of ATLAS Track nails (my prefered method of attachment on home layout) ~10-pack of M/T Barber Roller Bearing Trucks ~A package of 1144's for my scratchbuilt Borden's Milk Car. ~And a new ATLAS Turntable, via the E-Bay santa. ~ 3 Lengths of ATLAS Flex ~Package of ATLAS Bumpers ~Canadian Trains Calender Of course, there's my usual discount on these items (10% off) as well as Mike, the LHS Train guy, gave us the sale price from the next day (an additional 15% off). I love this season 8)

Well, I didn't GET anything train related for Christmas. BUT I did win a Bachmann Spectrum Stationmaster set on eBay. And I also learned at last night's neighborhood party that my next door neighbor has a very nice Lionel layout and collection, along with a growing G scale set.

No train related stuff. However, I did get a dado cutter that I can use to make up my benchwork. Since I'm now single, anything I get is usually something that I've had to purchase myself. I won't say anything to my parents about train related stuff, because they're both retired, plus they wouldn't know what I want, anyway. What they gave me was just fine, though. Once I get over being sick, I might get to work on the benchwork, but hey, who knows?

Got 3 nice shirts and a metal Rio Grande sign for the wall. Also got an engineers hat and locomotive keychain - WITH sounds - and an Intermountain N Scale 3 bay grain hopper. Got me the Kato CZ passenger set, waiting on the Rio Grande PA's. And just recieved word that my LifeLike GP60's have arrived! Not much from family, which is fine. I don't have much I want anyway.

A cool book on bridges, as well as a even cooler looking book that's a reprint of a classic railroading book from 1894 or so. Also got a set of micro-screwdrivers (will actually be exchanged +$ for the real Craftsman set) and Sam Posey's book. The book is great. Finally, the Santa-self had a fit of non-control and came home from the pusher on Friday with an unscheduled Denver & Rio Grande Western PA/PB set to pull the Zephyr around. While part of me knows that there will be great joy to be found in torturing rivet counters by pulling the California Zephyr with a pair of Delaware and Hudson PA1s, the courteous side of me said "at least be prepared to give the poor fellas a break, take home the D&RGW pair as well....."

Re:OK, spill the beans...
As usual I got zip for Christmas with respect to n scale trains. My Bride got me a gift card from Home depot, because she knows I was wanting to do something about the flooring in my train room. I may go industrial carpet or perhaps go for a faux finish painted on the concrete. Or perhaps some framing material as I start my expansion into the unfinished basement. Of course I always make sure I have something under the tree for my trians. Bought an Athearn flat car, some WS people, and a bunch of brass detailing parts. I don't blame my family for passing on the train stuff. I need specific items and unless they are insdie my head it would almost be impossible for them to know what I really want. Last thing I want is a LL 50' stock car with rapidos or a Bachmann crossing gate.

YHR, one suggestion on that floor: do whatever you can to add some "spring" to your step. You'll appreciate it after spending a long while standing on it, if its currently simple concrete.

YHR , What Biker Dad said!!!! I am using the foam squares that they sell at Checker Auto stores and it is sure comfortable and they can be removed and washed clean. They are easy to cut and stay in place. Mike

Thanks for the advice guys. I may very well look into some carpet "Tiles" as a solution.

This year I got a nice Denim Missabe Arrowhead logo shirt. Since I bought my Yellowstone a couple months ago, I'm not complaining a bit. It was sort of an early Christmas present. Last year was pretty good for train stuff. I got several reference books and other assorted items.

How much does it cost to ship a few sheets of 4'x8'x2" foam through USPS or Fed-Ex?

Thank God for online wish lists for the wife. As opposed to previous tie and slipper infested yuletide greetings, I got a Deluxe Innovations Twin-stack Gunderson unit and a decoder equiped Santa Fe Dash 8 from Atlas. I'm a happy boy.....
