I got a new digital camera a took a few shots of the new layout. I could only get a few to upload because the file size to large. In my gallery "free stone walls" are shots of my bridge and yard. I like the macro setting on the Canon S2IS.

MyTrains Free Stone Wall
Those are nice pictures!!
I use PhotoShop Elements to reduce the image size to something more managable. This makes the file size smaller without reducing picture quality thus providing more space for pictures in my gallery.
And seein's how we love to see pix...mo space is goooooood!! :D

What is too large, the picture or the file size?
If it is the picture itself, you most likely have software that came with the camera to resize the images. If it is the file size, the same software can most likely compress the file size.
If you don't want to deal with that, there are some free online image compression web sites. Some do better than others as well as have varying degrees of compression offered.
This place does decent, all you need is a valid e-mail address: http://pegasusimaging.com/jpegwizard.htm
Here is a place that let's you download free software to do the same, I haven't used it: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Graphics_Palette_and_Compression_Tools/JPEG_Optimizer.html
I use ACD See for almost all my photo chopping needs.
Here are the results from the JpegWizard web site starting with original, light, medium, and then heavy compression. My apologies to dial up users.

Original 141kb
Light compression 23.1kb
Medium compression 19kb
Heavy compression 15kbRe:new camera
LOL, I am not sure. I haven't really used it in years other than an hour ago to show you the results. I used their online deal. I resized the image and tried again... I felt I should make smaller the above image. I haven't been sent the new e-mail with the pics web page. Maybe they just let you try it online once.
As for the logo, I'd imagine if you pay them, there will be no logo.
Also, I use my junk e-mail address for this, maybe Yahoo hasn't quite processed the e-mail yet. I'll post back later if I get the e-mail.
There are also other online optimizers. Do a search for image optimizer and check out the results.
Here is another popular option to resize/manipulate images:
Go here, http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm , download Irfanview and install.
Launch Irfanview.
Open the desired image.
Choose Resize/Resample from he Image menu. I usually choose 640x480, or 800x600. Click OK. Crop if desired.
Choose save as from the file menu.
Make sure the Show Dialogs box at the bottom of the save screen is checked.
Re:new camera
OK, I just got the new e-mail and I changed the image sizes above.
To use the online deal, which doesn't have the logo on the images, just go to http://www.jpegwizard.com/, enter the e-mail address you initially entered and then it will all be done online. When they send you the link for the resized images, just save them to your computer and then post them as normal they won't have their logo on them.
Re:new camera
This is what I did the other day:
Took the picture on the DIGITAL and downloaded to a friends computer.
uploaded the photo to ofoto.com or any free pic hosting software. They have tools to brigten the image and all those.
Saved the picture from the ofoto.com and bingo it worked.
it may be the most crude form of making the image small. Might come handly at places where you dont have any tools except internet.
