Just wanted to share a very positive experience I recently had with Brooklyn Locomotive Works (an Internet dealer), I have been looking for a diesel switcher for my layout for awhile now and I kept coming back to the Life-Like SW-1200 but it only seemed to show up on the BLW site: http://www.blwnscale.com/Life-Like%20SW-1200%27s.htm I tried my LHS but they said

BryanC; Neat looking switcher. Just put in my order for the Florida & East Coast in Brown & Yellow. But forgot to check the couplers. Thanks Ron

Positive Experience W/ BLW
I too, had a good experience with BLW (Pete). Ordered items and immediately received all except caboose and a 2-6-6-2 Steamer. I was e-mailed about b/o on caboose. The steam engine never arrived lost in the mail. I E-mailed Pete, and the steamer delivery was ironed out in a few days - and a few days later got my caboose. Extremely happy with BLW. Troy, I don't know the answer to that! But I would guess not. It's an older run that is discontinued and is (it would seem) unavailable elsewhere. That doesn't mean it can't be made to work with DCC. There are several members here who could probably handle such a task with ease. You might ask (the other) Bryan for starters. Also, why not call BLW and ask? (There is a "Contact BLW" button with email, fax and phone information!) Let us know what you find out - I think Ron (69Z28) might also be interested in knowing.

Troy, there's two ways to tackle decoder installations in these... 1/ With a little machining, you can fit a decoder under the light board in the front... 2/ Discard the rear weight, and put the decoder in the cab (no machining required)... The second option is the easiest, but leaves you with a slightly lighter loco...

Just received my SW-1200 today. A little over a week for delivery but that's better than (not here yet) Walthers. BLW does have a contact page. It's not on the main page and hard to find, but it is there. Their contact land-line is 1-732-446-2179 12 noon to 6 EST. It's a family run business and e-mail response can be slow. I would order from them again. Ron Bryan H - As soon as the saddle tank from Walthers arrives I'll send them to you for decoder installs. Ron

I have got 2 SW1200 mine seem to be pretty noisi to one more so. It seems to be the gears witch make the nois I lubed them and it is a littel better. Nice looking Engines. Convertet them to DCC removed the Cab weight to inst. the Decoder and it was easy to inst. DCC. They still pull OK for a switcher.

A little work will get a decoder where the light-board goes, and you save the cab weight (hence traction)...

uwe4877; Due to N scale size/my vision decoder installs are a little to difficult. For me it is better to pay than burn up a motor or decoder(s). Thanks for the advise. Ron

I too have had a great experience with them, they are helpful and can get some hard to find items. Give them a try, cheaper than or try ebay. Where I found my N scale Russel Snowplow and Cryogenic Boxcar. not cheap, but it can be found. What a great find,

I've allways had good service from BLW. I recently bought a ConCor ATSF MP15 in red warbonet scheme from BLW at 40% off: Unfortunately I think those are gone now but BN, BNSF and some other roads are still available at that same discount rate. David

BLW

Brooklyn Locomotive Works has always done right by me! I ordered some of the Atlas 90T hoppers with dimentional data only on them. It turns out they only had 2 left instead of the three. He emailed me and asked if I still wanted only two. I said sure, and he cut me some slack on the shipping! This is the kind of stuff that makes the hobby even MORE FUN!

I've bought quite a bit of stuff from BLW. For me, they have always been reliable, quick, and one of the lowest priced shops on the Web. Only MBKlein sometimes beats them on price. They have been quick to call me (not email!) whenever they had a question about my order. They have some neat exclusive offerings, too. We all have our favorites, but I have found them a good place to shop.

BROOKLYN LOCOMOTIVE WORKS has been in the N-Scale business a long time before the 'web came on the scene and BLW still gives good service, good prices and will go the extra mile for customers.

Yes Mark I was running choo choo's before there were any PC's. If I had known about BLW sooner I would have ordered from them sooner. I'm just glad that I started dealing with BLW when I did. Cool
