Hello :) I've been following the posts relating to layouts and the poll on layouts. and thought how much I enjoy looking at layout designs, RTS7.0, XTRCAD, or created by any other method. Even hand drawn. There are many in the images library and I spend a lot of time there. But you have to look through all the albums to find them all. This can also be fun. I enjoy the pictures of layouts, structures, rolling stock and other MRR stuff but layout designs are my favorite. I wonder if it's possible to have a sub-library of just layout designs so we can just browse and admire them and say hey! Boy! I would like something like that. Or "I think I'll add that idea to my layout." What does Admin of the technical possibilities and feasibility? what do the members think? Would you guys like a way to just browse layout designs? Or am I the lone ranger on this topic. Thanks Ron

You are not alone. I've always wanted an easier way to view other's ideas.

Re:Like Looking at Layout designs?
The immediate problem that comes to mind, is many folks don't "file"... Images are put in our images section now in a very hap-hazard manner... For example; member "X" might post pics about his finished layout, a kit-bash he's done, a decoder install, some rail-fanning in PA, some rail-fanning in TX, his layout under construction, etc... But each is just put in the Images section as it's own group, and not organized in a member "X" folder, with sub-folders for each topic, and further sub-folders if needed... This also falls true for posts in general... we have forum sections for specific topics, yet a large number of us just post to General, regardless of the topic... It's then up to Mod's & Admin's to move these posts to the most appropriate forum... which becomes time consuming... Back to images... there's no way for us (Admins) to "move" images in the current forum software, so it's up to the members to file/arrange their own images... There will likely be much better control over images in the upcoming new version of the forum (Todd ???) In the interim, better filing habits, and image naming habits by our members will make it easier to search (or browse) for specific images.

Re:Like Looking at Layout designs?
Hi Ron (and everybody else: Hi there :!: ) I don't think there is a model railroader alive that doesn't enjoy looking at track plans :D As you said, could I have done that, what could I add to my own layout, etc? It just goes on and on, come on now, we all do it :selfhifive Yes, I agree it would be wonderful to have a separate images area or, more likely (as you suggest) a sub area just for track plans. The images section of this site has many, many track plans scattered all over the place. It would be really nice to see them as a collection of nscale.net members track plans. Problem is, as (the other) Bryan stated, the design of this board doesn't really support it  Since a lot of the track plans are (probably) buried in other albums, maybe people could start creating separate albums just for their track plans :?: It would create more albums, and God knows we have a lot of them now. But, until the board gets redesigned, what's a few more albums between friends :?: I have not included a track plan of Alligator Lines in my album (its on my web site), but maybe I will add a new album with the track plan and a schematic of the electrical blocks :dance Not to day though :!:
