GE 44Tonner

If it turns out as good as the HO scale version was it should be a great little loco. The Bachmann 70 tonner was great too!

Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the response. The test shots look really good. Can't wait till the release.

They will make a grate addinon to my New Haven Boston street railway. As well as repaint and a small bash to make some austraian versions of the loco.

Thanks guys

New Bachmann stuff
The 44-tonner is of little interest to me, but those separately available tenders, now that provides the opportunity to provide all wheel pickup for some steamers, like Model Power ones. I'll be getting at least two of those.

Wouldn't a GE 70 tonner be nice?

I would like to see a GE 70 tonner available, in SP Tiger stripe of course. The 70 tonners took over for the 4-8-0's in the woods of Oregon. SP had both 44 and 70 tonners however, the 44 T diesels were too light to work in Oregon so they were transfered to the Pacific Electric in the LA area.

GE 44 ton in N-SCALE"

This was my post on Wed, 09/05/2007.  At one time Troy at JNJ was attemping to manufacture one and did get half way, my theory is he got discouraged with the GE 44tonner project and gave up.

As for the next model from Bachmann in this series could it be the GE 70 ton?

I saw one today at the
I saw one today at the National Convention - very nice overall.  The handrails are a tad thick for my taste but I am definatly buying one as the rest of the unit is excellent

I am pleased that we are getting the 44

but what would please me even more would be that Bachmann do the 70 tonner too, like they have in HO.

I would definately buy both and I am definately planning to buy at least one of the 44's.

Railohio, You haven't

Railohio,

You haven't become jaded or something have you?  Laughing  I myself don't need the 44 tonner (it does look cool though), but I will find the slope back tender a nice addition to an MP 2-6-0 minus the lead truck (from the loco not the tender...) to make it look more like the 0-6-0 PRR loco 2801 in the photo pulling two passenger cars out of Cumberland, Md. WM passenger station along Wills Creek.

I'm certainly glad to see
I'm certainly glad to see somebody is doing a small industrial switcher, but overall the new product announcements from this show are disappointing.  I guess those who want to keep plenty of tenders in the backshop lot or people who model Union Pacific (or buy everything in sight) will be happy, though!

Underrepresented vs. Overrated

The big difference is that the DD40AX has been on the market for over two decades already and that it only appeals to a small portion of modelers. N scale sorely lacks switchers, especially small and early models, and the GE 44-ton is almost guaranteed to be a success.
