Hi,

I'm interested in any help I can get for a troublesome MP15DC.

This is a fairly new engine but it seems to be in need of a lube job and I'm not quite sure how to go about it.  I would like to learn the safe way to get the body off so I can service this little engine so that I can get rid of the high piched whineing and jerky performance.  Right now its setting Idle in the yard but I'd like to put it back into switching service as soon as I can.

thanks for any and all advice.

Joe, sounds like you might
Joe, sounds like you might have a gear that's not meshing correctly.  I have 3 of them and had one that acted like yours.  I just kind of jiggled around with the trucks a little and it cleared up.  To remove the body, what I do is turn it upside down and work a jeweler's screwdriver between the frame casting and the body and gently pry one end and then the other. Once it starts to loosen it can be pulled off pretty easily.  Everything is fastened to the body so it comes off without disassembling any parts.
