I have a couple of Atlas GP9's and a 7 that are factory DCC equipped.  They run great except they do have a bit of a time getting up a 2% grade with any more that about 4-5 cars.  If I put a finger on them they move right along which tells me I might want to add a bit of weight to these.  Problem is there really isn't much room.

Has anyone been successful adding weight to one of these?

Thanks

Locos weights

I have several older Atlas GPs that I havn't converted to DCC and ran on my 3% grades.... now I am worried....I have Life Like SDs that pull 10 cars on the 3%

Back to the question... The bodys are generally full of weight and motor ect... Try taking off the shell and looking inside the cab area...

Tungsten putty can be used

Tungsten putty can be used to add weight into small spaces to gain extra weight...

In a GP9, you can fill the void between the cab wall and the main shell wall... a thin layer under the walkways might be another possibility.
