I expanded my layout this summer by adding another module. It has an elevated portion that is "S" shaped across the middle of the layout. I tried to purchase styrene in a stone cut design to place on the sides of the elevated portion but because of the curvature of it couldn't find anything that was flexible to follow the foam sides. But then I came across Brickyard http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/brickyard.html by Evans Designs and this program did the trick. The program designers recommended using Aleene's Tacky Glue (which will not bleed through the printed paper) and Epson SO41062 Matte presentation paper (which is waterproof, smooth and non-glare).
The program has multiple options for brick designs and the stone cut appears to match most tunnel portals and worked for me. But there are many options for brick siding for either fences, buildings or just about any structure. And if you're into kit bashing the program is compatible with Model Builder http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/model-builder.html for making buildings that you cannot buy. I also sprayed the printed paper with UV spray from Michaels before gluing it and that should limit any chance of the colors fading even though the layout is not in bright light.
At $15.00 the program was reasonably priced and the end product looks terrific. I loaned out my digital camera but when I get it back I'll add a post to this thread with photos of the finished product. All in all I'm quite happy with the results and think there are probably many other applications out there where this product would work quite well.
