Hello everyone. I'm new to this group and I'm in the process of designing a new layout. I am limited in my space and it has to be portable because I have to put it into a closet when I'm not working on it. The largest I can go is 2 feet 6 inches wide by 4 feet 6 inches long. I like to do alot of switching but yet I would also like and interesting mainline run. I'm trying to stay away from a simple oval that looks like it should have a Christmas tree in the middle. Any ideas and suggestions would be welcome. I model Union Pacific and Chicago Northwestern with a hint of Canadian National as a way to acknowledege my Canadian roots. So I would like my new layout to have a midwestern theme. Any ideas anyone?

[Mod note: snowman11022 originally made this post in another thread. It seemed it would be better as a separate thread, so here it is! - BDC]

The Mad Trackplanner www.naisp.net/mfischer/m_train2.htm has the best small layout plans I know of. Have a look.
