Does anyone know of a company that makes prototypical wheelsets for freight cars?  Atlas wheelsets just don't do it for me, I want something that looks more like the real thing so I can weather them down.

Dude, go here...

Try this thread: http://www.nscale.net/forums/modeling/trackage/2007/07/22/code-55-bumpy-ride

We've beaten it up fairly well. I like Fox Valley Models wheels, and while they cost some, I fell they are worth it...

FVM is the way to go and
FVM is the way to go and trust me when you compare them to NWSL wheels which are suppose to be the best looking wheels, FVM looks just as good for a lot better price.

Except for the limited sizes...

If FVM made 28" wheels for my tofc flats I'd be a happy man. I guess I'll be keeping NWSL in business for a while too...

Actually they are...  They had pics in the last NSR or N-scale I believe so it should be soon that they will be hitting the market.

You can call me happy then!

Maybe I need to read more; with trying to get a month's work done in two weeks my perusing time is cut really short. Given a choice between reading and working on the layout, even wiring wins!

Plus I knew y'all would keep me up to date! :)

LOL, yeah I can understand that, but sometimes it's good to step back and take a break, mind you I guess I can say that because I've got the 2 mainlines running on mine now just a matter of working on the yards.

For the looks and the price
For the looks and the price you can't beat them and they have very little magnetic properties, specially when compared to the other metal wheels on the market.  Only thing I don't like about them is trying to get ahold of them.  LOL  They always seem to be out of stock at suppliers but that shows you how popular they are.

I just acquired some FVM

I just acquired some FVM wheelsets and all I can say is wow.  I added them to my best weathered rolling stock and the appearance and prototypical look is like night and day.  It's amazing how much just a good set of wheelsets can improve your model.
