Art Deco Scratchbuilding Plan

Just wanted to share that I'll be starting a new scratchbuilding project soon -- an Art Deco movie theater based on a prototype in Washington DC.

I've been working on the scale elevation plans (working from photos) that I can follow as I work through this.

I really need a trip to the local (not so local because my usual just closed) hobby store to get a pretty long list of supplies.

Should be a fun project though.  Lots of lighting challenges with this one!

Wow.

If your scratchbuilding skills are anywhere near your drafting skills (and I think they are), I think this will be an exciting build to watch.

BTW, what program did you use to draft this?

I agree with
I agree with paperrailroad's comment on the drawing. Excellent job.  I really love the old Art-Deco theatres, and the one you chose seems to be a fine example.  Keep us posted with your progress.

This could be a good project to use fiber-optic lighting.

Here's another example of a nice little theatre that I'm familiar with:

Fiber Optics

I absolutely intend to use fiber optics in this.  Just a matter of how to route them to all the different locations because there would be some pretty tight bends for the fiber -- usually not good.

I may wind up using EL sheet in a couple of locations with the fibers lighting off of that -- so the fibers can be straight runs.

 We'll see....I'll keep you posted.

Genius
I second Ranulf's suggestion. Go to FrankG's website listed in his signature if you haven't seen it already. Some of his techniques are genius. I particularly liked his neon signs construction.

Not mmy videos
I just want to clarify that the videos I posted are not of my work.  I added those to my site as reference for N scale animation, but they just link out to YouTube.
