With all due respect and sympathy for those in the Flooded areas of this country, which now happens to be a current news topic here (rochester,ny and some of my church's congregation). Who is going to try their hand at modeling a flood on their layout ?

I don't plan on modeling a flood but I do plan on modeling the water you see along side the road in ditches and low lying areas when there is a lot of spring run off and rain.  Here in Montana we have been lucky.   I guess this is kind of where the water starts running downhill.

By the way.  Good luck to all those affected. You are in our prayers.

There was an article in the Sept/oct 2005 N-Scale magazine about modeling a flood by Ron Bearden. Not a lot of actual modeling, but some interesting info. The author suggested an NTrak module depicting flood waters. On a side note, I remember back in Iowa during a flood, they dug up some old steam engines to go rescue the stranded diesels.....water and electric motors don't seem to get along too well. Guess that's at least ONE area the diesels weren't an improvement.

As we all know, Electricity and Model Trains don't mix very well, hence the marked lack of 'Flood-type' scenes on our layouts.

However, it can be done, and if you really must have water and a flood on your layout, you might care to look at the following site:

It might be of interest. . .

im down here in Kentucky, so we

will probably have some rain too. The floods are quite horrible.

Good luck to everyone that was effected.

That "Spiriting Away" idea is pretty cool! I'm almost tempted to do it myself. Laughing

That would be cool to do at a low lvl area where the train has to dip into the water of a flooded river. I wonder how that would work with DCC, since AC and DC is different, I also wonder what kind of long term effect that would have on the Loco.
