I searched for and found the thread on paper buildings and converting from one scale to another by reducing on printers by certain percentages. Especially if that printer did not have a scaling feature. My question may have been covered in another thread, but I have not found it.

I have some interest in scaling down some drawings made in AutoCAD (full scale) to a printer/plotter that has its own program/interface. It can do percentages, but not scaling (as far as I can tell...I am still getting acquainted with it).

My question is, what percentage would I reduce to to get N scale?   100 percent = full size. 50 percent = half........N scale = ???? percent.   16; 1.6; ??

Thanks

1Ft in 1:1 is 12"12" in 'N'

1Ft in 1:1 is 12"

12" in 'N' is 12/160=0.075"

0.075" as a percentage of 12" is 0.075/12*100=0.625%

OR

1/160*100=0.625%

Scaling to print it or draw it?

I'm not real sure what you're asking so

this may not be what you want to hear...

I collect photos of prototype structures that I  assemble in Canon Photo studio 5. I also have pics of doors windows, textures, corrugated steel roofing etc. I 'build' them in 800 x 600 resolution and simply print them out in imperial measure that matches the N scale size.

A 3 floor  building is 50 feet high.

I print the picture 1.67 inches x 3.70 high.

The image is 33 x 740 pixels.

I would have posted the Illinois Main Street building I have, but I don't understand the POST PICS thing well enough.

That should read 330 x 740 pixels

Chaparral, please read this article for everything you ever wanted to know about using images on this site: Adding Images to Posts, Blog Entries, Articles, etc. It really isn't difficult!
