Hi all, I am looking for ideas and what's available in coaling tower kits OR built-up. What I have in mind doesn't need to be big, (not much over 200 tons). The engine facility won't be big, I just need food for my steamers. It can be wood or it can be modeled after a concrete version. If any of you out there have pics, please share them with us, and me. Dick,

Usually, when all is said and done, there's a lot more said than done!

Coaling towers

Alkem makes a kit for a coaling tower, as does The N Scale Architect as part of a set of engine service facilities. I have a Gloor Craft, former Quality Craft wood coaling tower, but it has not been made in some years. Heljan also makes a Fairbanks-Morse wooden coaling tower that has been sold by several importers over the years. I have one on my portable layout, shown below.

Thanks for all the responses

I appreciate all your responses. It seems there is a lot to choose from. The Walthers kit looks good and the Bachmann doesn't look too bad either.
