Embarassed Anyone know how to paint Micro-Plywood kids that are etched with details or even the BLMA etched Metals so that the etchings and details are not lost, I have seen pics done but do not know how they do it.

Please advise

I would suggest..............

I would highly suggest that you use an airbrush to do your painting of the structure. In some cases painting with a sable brush will be fine. In others the fine detail will be lost by paint that is too heavily applied. Seeing as how we are in N-scale we want all the detail we can get!

Do you have an airbrush?

I believe the best way to keep details is very thin coats of paint that I believe one can only get with an airbrush.  I do not have a lot of experience with this, but the little bit of airbrushing I have done has been like this.

Although for the wood kits, will they need a bit of priming to seal the wood first?

Thanks,
Charles

Just finished a Northeastern laser cut firehouse kit this week.  This is the OOP one with stone walls cut into the wood.  I gave it a light spray of dull coat to seal the wood and brush painted it with Testors acrylic paint.  Didn't hide any details.
