Has anyone ever seen a powered handcart?

I thought that it would be fun to have a powered handcart "pumping" its' way around my little layout.

I haven't had much luck finding one, and I was wondering if any manufacturers have a product like this...

Any assistance would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Respectfully,

Pete

A hand cart, in N-scale,

A hand cart, in N-scale, would be less than a half-inch long...there would be almost no way to motorize one in N-scale. They make motors small enough to be traction motors in N-scale locomotives, but they cost more than a typical family sedan.

Bachmann makes a powered handcart in HO-scale, however, it's about 50% larger than it ought to be.

Cheers,
AR

Thank you for your help

Thanks for the info.

I guess I'll just have to do without it.  I'm just not willing to go to "Horribly Oversized" scale just yet.

  Thanks again for your help.

 Pete.

I wonder if.......

......2 or 3 inches of thin monofilament between a caboose and a hand cart would work.  Could be a hoot watching a bunch of train crew guys on a hand cart trying to catch their train.

Outside the Box for mini-handcart
They have a way to make N scale cars and trucks run around on N scale streets (seen it at train shows) I think it is done with magnets under the road.  So is it possible to have the power source somewhere else besides on board the hand cart?  Alternative propulsion system needed.

A strong magnet under the track?

This occurred to me last night; I have a magnet that was once part of a fish tank cleaning kit; you put one piece in the tank, and the other outside, and moved it around. The magnet was strong enough to stay attached.

Mount a 'track' under the layout, probably by thinning out the baseboard, and make the cart of steel or with a ball bearing or such in it.

Move the magnet along the 'hidden' track, propelling the magnet. The run would probably be short...

Just a thought
