Greetings all,

For the last couple of years, I've been working on my door-sized layout.  Trouble is, I'll be moving in the fall and there just won't be room for it in the new diggs.  I plan on eventually building a coffee table layout to incorporate my train fix into functional space so all will be well.  But I need to start exploring a new home for this sucker.   Here are the facts:

- Door sized (30 x 80)

- Based on MR's "Carolina Central" using Code 80 sectional track.

-Wired for dual-cab operation, with built-in switchbox controlling 8 blocks and 2 remote turnouts in the staging area (all other turnouts have Caboose ground throws),  Theoretically it should be good for DCC as I have not employed common-rail wiring.

-Other than the isolation gaps, every joint is soldered, with feeders before and after every turnout.

-No trains, but I'll throw in ONE Railpower 1300 controller

I've done all the grunt work and some rudimentary scenery, all that is really left to do is the "fun" stuff.  The track is well-laid and I honestly have not had one derailment.  So what would a reasonable selling price be?  I'd say I've invested about $400.  I'm not really expecting to recoup that, but what is the labour worth?  Toss some numbers at me!

Thanks a lot, and here are some pics.

Jeremy,About a year ago, I

Jeremy,

About a year ago, I bought a Carolina Central layout on a 32"x83" door. It's nicely sceniced and finished. Track is Atlas Code 80 flextrack, All turnouts except on the hidden staging are Atlas manual throw (with the big ol' switch machine). It's single-cab, but has 5 isolatable blocks plus the main. Trackwork is just OK. It came with an SD-7 and about 40 pieces of freight rolling stock, plus a short passenger consist in MILW livery with both diesel and steam power. I paid $300, which was actually more than the asking price. That was about the replacement price of all the rolling stock, but seller didn't think he could get that much. I don't know what the fair market value would be.

Wow Wayne, that's a steal
Wow Wayne, that's a steal for all of that! I'd pay that in a heartbeat.  Anyway, there's a guy at work who's interested, and we've arrived at a $175 pricetag.  That's right in line with the cost of all the track and power pack, so I'm very comfortable with that.  I guess that's my answer to what a "fair price" is.  He just needs to go home and clear it with the "finance commitee"....

A buddy and I just picked

A buddy and I just picked up one for him the same size about 80% scenery done for $150 so your price is in the right area.
