I believe that for the most part, 24 inches is generally taken as the maximum area to reach over with comfort and in order to handle those "small" details that so often need attention! I often see plans with a 36 inch reach requirement and I don't pretend to know how how this distance will actually be handled! Maybe and inch or two more but 12?

Anyway, for those that need it, you can now substantially increase your reach with "The Topside Creeper". But at a price! MSRP is $315.60 and Micro-Mark are selling it for $239.95!

They also have a "Bottomside Creeper" for working under your layout. This item has an MSRP of $119.95 and is being sold for $104.95.

Note:  I have no connection with Micro-Mark. I came across these items in a catalog they sent me and I thought they might be of interest to some!

Bryan, I have a topside

Bryan, I have a topside creeper and and without it I would be unable to reach parts of my layout.  The drawback is that unless you have wide aisles with a minimum of legs under your layout, this is very hard to piece of heavy equipment to maneuver.  This device has very wide and long support feet.

The island swyd in the middle of my layout is 5 ft. across at the widest part............bad layout design, but this is my first layout and that is the only part of the island that is wide enough to install a 15 bay roundhouse and a 130 ft. turntable.  Not fun, putting this installation in lying on my stomach on top of this thing.

Hmmmmmmmmm

I know you are serious Bryan, but the thought of myself gliding over my layout like Peter Pan almost made me fall out of my chair laughing.  It would get me a good airplane view of my layout tho......Cool I try to keep the reach under 30 inches.
