Yesterday (I don't know why) I looked at my profile and noticed I had a bunch of points, which I thought was a 4 digit figure. I thought nothing of it and went to bed. Today I checked email and I have been congratuladed more or less on being on probation because I have built up 1 point? I checked my points and have 629. What did I miss here, whats going on?

Brian_Va,

Congratulations!
You have met the minimum required points for joining a new role.

As a new member of this role, you now join a select few in having
access to more areas and privileges on the web site.

Role: probation
Points Required: 1

We extend our warmest welcome.

Looks like something a new member might get when they make a post for the first time.

Maybe someone is trying to tell you something. Wink

Nope! I received an identical mesage as well!

My guess is that it is some sort of automated thing within the points system that doesn't have the correct data to work with and so these message get sent out!

Could also be that Todd was playing with something! Surprised

In any case I think you can safely ignore it.

I believe Todd is setting
I believe Todd is setting up a new Role... if anyone gets one of these messages, don't be concerned, it has (shouldn't have) any effect on your access/posting abilities... if you do notice any changes, please report them to Todd [Admin] via PM.

Maybe we'll be the first

Maybe we'll be the first ones to get the free dinnerware, or the first to get a visit from an nScale.net probation officer.

Hey I'm on double

Hey I'm on double not-so-secret probation too....

Thought I got it for asking for the beer drinking emoticon.  So, where is the  beer drinking emoticon?

I almost missed it...

With all of the messages I get for how do we say it; "enhanced performance and pleasure" I almost mistook my  new role as N-Scale spam or something obscene. Glad to see it was just stray electrons. Now I'll go back to my messages about the lotteries I have won, watches people want to sell me, and, of course, good old pharmaceuticals.

Maybe Todd will grandfather our probationary requirements in exchange for good behaviour? Well, maybe everyone but me and NH2006. I think a beer drinking emoticon says so much, and especially if it's in a pint glass...

I don't know what the

I don't know what the notice is about.  If you haven't gotten one yet, you'll get one the next time you log on, making it an automated-response type of thing.  You know, SPAM!  LOL

Well, whatever it's for, someone will eventually let us in on the secret!  In the meantime, you may want to print out a copy, have it framed and hang it on your trainroom wall.

Darrell, quiet...for now

Dennis,The beer drinking

Dennis,

The beer drinking emoticons, unfortunately, were in a safe deposit box in India at the time of my late uncle's untimely death in a horrific airliner crash in Romania in 1999.  These priceless emoticons, along with 13.4 million USD, are to be seized by the Government in several months, and we are anxious to get these items out of the country. You have been mentioned as a trusted friend, and we would like to transfer this estate to your bank account for safe keeping. You may keep 10% for your trouble.  Just send us all your bank account information, and please send us $10,000 US so that we can bribe the proper bank officials.

Thanking you in advance,

Jim

Hey, whaddya know!  I can join the party too!  I got one of those Emails!  Guess I'm on probation for suggesting that a toothpick is an invaluable modeling tool, because that was the only post I made this weekend.  Oh well, guess I'll keep my toothpicks to myself from now on. Wink

I felt kind of left out.....

...for a while.

But I soon found the subject email hiding in the SPAM locker.

When I tried to sweep it out, it bit me.

Now I have to go through two weeks of twice daily hypodermic injections directly into my stomach.

Someone ought to tell the Admins to wash their hands and brush their teeth more often.

Moose

Darrell, Well I think I am

Darrell,

Well I think I am glad to say I have avoided both.  Sometimes I don't mind learning from others experience, I don't really need to experience everything myself... Tongue out

hard time and other things to avoid

How true, Charles, how true!

There are MANY things I prefer to experience vicariously.  Sky diving comes immediately to mind!  LOL  Put bungee jumping in that category, too!

When I was in grade school (1950's), our class took a trip to the city police department.  Several of us were 'confined' in a jail cell.  That was enough of an experience for me!  While I'm not the halo-around-my-head individual that I often appear to be, I have STUDIOUSLY avoided situations that could result in incarceration!

Darrell, free and intending to STAY that way, and quiet...for now
