Size of Photos

See map: Google Maps I plan on posting a number of photos in my Gallery and also in  a post. Can you give me a run down on the best size I should formate them for... I will be using photoshop... Thanks

The generally accepted best size for this environment is 800 pixels for the longest side. You may get away with 1024 but 800 is better for the following reasons (there may well be more):

  • You gallery space is limited and you can use it up very quickly with large images.
  • Large images cause issues for dial-up users and, yes, we do have some!
  • Large images can users to have to scroll to see the entire image.
  • Large images can (and do) cause page formatting issues for container page.

If you haven't already, you may care to read Adding Images to Posts, Blog Entries, Articles, etc. An update, towards the bottom, specifically addresses image sizes!
