Looks like we might have been down for around 12 to 15 hours. Can't be sure as I haven't been to the site since earlier on Thursday. We have been experiencing some odd problems with the server lately and I have no explanation at this time. In particular our email server has been acting up which means notifications and new member messages might have been delayed or even completely skipped. I am working with tech support and hope to have a resolution soon. We may be rebooting frequently over the next few days.

Nothing has been changed on the server so this is definitely a mystery and could be the result of a malicious user or someone outside the community. Both have been the case in the past.

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused anyone. This is not related to the 'missing login box' issue from a few days back. That was purely an article formatting problem.

Thanks for your support and patience.

Todd

You know, besides N Scale itself, it wouldn't surprise me if this is one other thing we all have in common! Wink

Talking about down time..

Down time now happens to be a fact of life regardless of what type of job / position you're in. I think the best example now would be the rising prices and it's not just $ of gasoline , to fuel our hobby...

I propose a modeling

I propose a modeling contest to keep members occupied should... err, when the forums crash again. You have from the next time the forums go down until the time they come back online to detail a freight car. Who knows, might be eighteen hours or only eight...

Good response

Problems will always come up, nobody can avoid encountering some, what is really important is how you handle and overcome, congratulations on a job well done.

P.S. Just trash the culprits, if you can ever find them
