Hello,

I have not found anything and was wondering if you guys can confirm if nothing is available.  Looking for a working Gandy Dancer like the HO version available from Bachman?

Opie, please clarify your comment...

"My local hardware store has one in stock..."

Has one what?... Gandy Dancer (prototype), 'N' scale static model, or 'N' scale motorized (existence previously unknown).

Given he said it was a hardware store, I would bet it's neither N-scale nor motorized...

The question pertained to

Andrew, the question pertained to an operational 'N' scale gandy dancer...

The answer given indicated a local hardware store had one...

Whilst you and I know that the "one" referred to isn't a motorized 'N' scale version (because they don't exist) or likely any 'N' scale version for that matter, yensid is not likely to know this (or the question wouldn't have been asked in the first place)...

The subtle underlying hint is to be a little more explicit with your answers.

I know the point you were

I know the point you were trying to get across, Bryan...I've picked up on your subtle ways through the past 4 yearsTongue out

I was, however, giving a not-so-subtle answer to the question you didn't ask. It's either a real piece of track equipment (doubtful), or in another scale (much more likely).

I could not find it, but it seems a month or so ago there was a small lot of N scale items on eBay that included a powered gandy dancer, don't remember much detail at the moment.  Not beautiful or anything, but...

Evidence please... whilst it is not beyond technical possibility, there's certainly not a production version, and I've not heard claims of anybody doing it as a one-off... it would be a major challenge, to say the least... as Andrew has stated, it would most likely be a bigger scale (if motorized)...

Not being one to shy away

Not being one to shy away from a challenge, well at least not all the time, I have looked through eBay again.  The listing showed up in one of my canned searches I have, but not for a "hand-car" or "gandy dancer," I have no such search.  All of my searches are in N scale.  The hand car was part of a funny little collection of about 6 or 8 items.  I have looked through a few of my searches, and gone to completed listings, they only seem to go back about 3 weeks, and I don't see the listing.  I could look through all my searches, but with my low speed narrow band internet it is a slow process.  However, I did stumble over an interesting listing:

Well lo and behold, the pictures of this item look a lot like the one in the listing I saw before, only it is listed as HO.  So maybe whoever bought the other listing, is now selling this wide gauge N scale gandy dancer on eBay.

So it seems to be a false alarm, unless you want a couple giants running around your layout on 8' 8" wide gauge track.

Have fun,
Charles

8'8" track guage doesn't worry me...
It's feeding those 11'6" track workers that does!
