Post Counts and View Counts Coming Back?

A couple of items that I have heard nothing about are Post Counts and Views. The former doesn’t really matter but the numbers of views does serve a function. It shows the interest in and/or popularity of a specific thread which can be useful information!

Are there plans to add (or turn on) a view count? Maybe there is not enough interest? Or maybe it’s just one of those things we’re going to have to learn to live without?

Cheers!

Hi Todd, this is a

Hi Todd, this is a relatively minor issue and I certainly don’t want to take your attention away from much more important issues!

But, I was referring to post counts for individual members (not for an entire thread) which used to appear beneath their avatars (or IDs) along with their title (on the left of the old pages)! As stated, this is really of little or no concern although it is sometimes nice to see then number of posts a specific member has made.

Of much more importance to me, anyway, is just how many views a specific thread has had. I find myself looking for it a lot! You say it was implemented this morning and that is a good thing! But I cannot seem to locate it! Could you (or anyone who knows) let me know where to find it!

Thanks again for all your efforts. I know this upgrade must have occupied most of your waking hours for several days now and I, for one, am very thankful!!

Cheers!

So I did misunderstand!

So I did misunderstand! typical for me I am afraid to say.

Yes the post counts for users is coming back. And I am working on user badges (conductor, gandy dancer, etc.)

They won't come back until I get the new design out which might be tomorrow or in a week. Depends on how much trouble the coding gives me.  Surprised

Thanks for the clarification kind sir!

Thanks Bryan, but I have to admit that I cannot find the "Reads" - link or whatever. Hate to sound dumb but I have to be missing something! Can you provide more explicit directions?

Thanks Bryan but after checking several threads I am not seeing it at all. This is what I see:

Trackback URL for this post:

No "Reads nn". And in some cases the "Write ro author" is missing as well, as is the case with the first post above in this thread! Is it me or a gremlin?

I hate to belabor the point but I would be very interested in understanding why I cannot see the “Reads: nn”!

Am I the only one who cannot see it? Can anyone else see it? What can be done to make it visible?

Thanks.

I realize your post is almost a year old but.......... Do we hafta have a "Badge system". That would be like that "other site" out there. The other site that I quit because it seemed too elitist. There is a great span of modelers and skill levels "shown" here on this site. It's friendly here, PLEASE don't make it like that "other place".

As you note, that post is a year old. There is an old saying: "Let sleeping dogs lie" - I think this is applicable here! Right now it would appear there are three badges: Administrators, Moderator and Supporter. They seem just fine to me. But I do agree, there is not much point in badges based on the number of posts!

What site are you referring to? There are quite a few out there!

Each member has their post
Each member has their post count showing under their name... would a post based badge system be for those that can't count? Tongue outSealedWinkLaughing
