    Default Assembling Kato Magnetic Couplers

I purchased some Kato short shank magnetic couplers but couldn't find much if anything on the net about putting them together. I whipped up this brief how to on the assembly of Kato magnetic couplers. If you have any questions please post them here so I can answer them.

Just got some from the US today. Great tutorial - worked for me OK. They are a little fiddly to install - I've used them on a couple of Bethgon Coalporters. Not sure that they are the correct one for the job, but seem to work OK most of the time.

    Many thanks.

Update after a couple of days use.

I suspect that these aren't the best couplers to use with the Coalporters. Reason being that the coupler I used (923500) seems to be designed for use with a flat leaf spring, which keeps solid contact with the back of the coupler all of the time. The Coalporter couplers, however, have a coil spring fitting, which doesn't always hold the smaller pivoting part of the coupler in place reliably, which allows the coupling to stay open, which in turn leads random decoupling.

I'll keep trying for a while, but I have ordered a couple of MT trucks for comparison.

My grandson (8 years old) broke a coupler seeing how fast 2 engines could go. I ended up the loser. I found the part and your "How To" was perfect. Thanks.
