It's the observation car from the Milwaukee Road Olympian Hiawatha (First link DrMb posted) out of the new Kato set.

On a side note, Holy Price Tag Batman! $50 for that car undecorated?! Better off getting the whole set and selling the spare cars IMO.

On the other hand, have you ever tried to strip the paint off of a Kato passenger car? Also, considering that there are only 3 prototype schemes for the Skytops, I consider it a good deal.

Oh yes they are indeed a pain to strip, I've done several Kato cars and locos with many more to go lol. I completely understand if one doesn't have the time, patience or inclination to do so themselves it just was some severe sticker shock when I saw that .

    Default undec MT mail car

After taking a trip on the VIA rail Canadian last summer, my interest in passenger trains was sparked. I saw the Kato Daylight passenger kit and the beautiful locomotive to drive it and bought the whole deal. Love it, but I had minor issues with coaches rubbing shoulders and disconnecting on s curves. I picked up this undecorated unit from Micro Trains, hoping that it would offer wider spacing between cars if one of them was MT coupler equipped. It didn't work but in the mean time I made it up like this using existing white SP decals, so I painted the body black and the roof silver. It is totally non prototype, just done with what was at hand.

And after I said that it's worth that price for an undecorated Skytop because of the difficulty in stripping Kato cars:

Does anyone run / collect Royal American Shows equipment?

EDIT: Did a bit of reading and was interested to learn why fairs are (or were) called "Midlands". Some interesting history on this fair (including some international intrigue) - they have a Facebook group but it is mainly sharing old pictures and announcing that other people who worked the fair have passed on.

I bought a lot w/ 3 sets of Con-Cor passenger cars (in order to get the one set of Lackawanna cars) and wound up with a set of Royal American Show passenger cars (seller was awesome and included some extra cars as well which turned out to be an MTL runner pack -- best bonus cars I have ever received -- he definitely got a 5-star rating).

That's pretty awesome, I had a similar deal with a guy on some passenger equipment. Hmmm, I'm sure a circus train would be a real attention grabber at shows...I'd be tempted to pick 'em up if you decided they didn't fit your collection (just what I need, more passenger trains lol)

As for my previous purchase, the guy had it originally listed at $145 shipped for a P42, 2 material cars, 4 Superliners and the CP baggage car. Apparently no one was biting so he added in another Superliner and I jumped in. In the process of paying he decided to throw in 2 more Superliners and the other 2 CP cars because they "had issues", turns out the Superliners only had some smudges and the CP diner is missing a truck screw, and the material cars are just missing the detail parts.
