On Friday I caught 45 minutes of action at the east end of town as three trains played/worked. This is the second train, a coal load....the other two are on the you-tube channel.

Caught some switching this week by the 1544 and 1545. Neat seeing sequential units tied together. Also a weird CN unit in a consist, a GE with an EMD style cab.

Power being transferred DIT east out of Glendive. This set was moving away from the service track area then backing itself onto it's train. Thought it would be more interesting to film it with the MOW stuff parked here in front.

The local GP power is no longer sequential since the 1545 got replaced by 1548. Here they are running up the Redwater branch delivering some pipe to the pipeyard.

And just another coal empty. The 70Ace is spewing soot and smoke for some reason. Maybe an injector? Or an emissions system issue.

Yesterday this grain load was racing into town even as it was snowing and well below )! You will notice the flashback grain train sitting in the yard with lots of cascade green!

@badlandnp I hope you don't mind me jumping in your thread, but this picture looked too interesting to pass up. Not my picture, so I'll just post a link:

If you're looking for a project to use a bunch of random stuff from your parts drawer...

Looks like it was built from a GP38? But with an SD70 series truck in front (though a GP truck in the back, yes, 5 axles in total), rotary snowplow on the front...

I was looking at it yesterday. That photo is where it sits today, in a line with a Harco spreader and several older Jordans and an ex-GN snow beater.

Had a good catch on the 25th, saw the local pulling pipe loads and oil cans up the old Redwater/Circle branch. The rails still serve a pipeyard, oil tank farm, chemical plant and gravel pit, so the branch is still in service for a couple of miles.

And I caught this east end switching going on yesterday morning.

    PIC_0350.jpg

Before they started switching, the service track and roundhouse are visible, distantly.

    PIC_0340.jpg

And a couple of fallen flag hoppers.

This was a fun one to get. An acquaintance saw me pulled over here and had to stop by and ask me what was up? Then, "Oh yeah. You are a train nut." Thought the video came out well, anyway!

Was on my way north along the Sidney branch out of Glendive to work on a horse shed, and saw this headlight in the distance. Stop fast and get a look, it might be interesting. Sure enough, elephanrt style lashup, going backwards!

I am fairly certain that after getting to the west wye they either pulled the train into town, if eastbound, or used the wye, if westbound, and re-arranged things!

Had a very busy couple of weeks! But I did get this train on the 13th of Aug. as it headed off to the gravel pit from the yard. This approach to the bridge is from the wye at the west end of the yard, and my vantage point is from the base of the bridge, which is always fun!!
