    Atlas Alaska Railroad Caboose 1068.

    ARR ATLAS CABOOSE 1068.jpg
Actually received #1077, which I already had. Seller did post that #1077 and not #1068 was the item for auction, and photo was of similar item. My fault for not reading the large (and it was large) print before bidding.

Thanks to Ron's (@69Z28) Father's Day sale, Northtown has a new stripmall. IMG_0001.JPGIMG_0002.JPG

This going to be fun to detail and light when I get time. It's replacing a row of DPM buildings. There are molded interior details like the Denny's - so painting and installing LPP to come.

Just set in place for now.

I picked up the following this weekend with some of the cash I got from selling my HO scale layout/collection:

Two Bachmann Prairies. I'm happy with this, as they appear to be 2004+ runs, so the quality should be pretty high.

Walthers/Lifelike 2-8-8-4 Mallet. An older run of this model, but it's still an awesome, highly detailed locomotive.

JL Innovative McSoreley's Old Ale House. I've always liked the aesthetics of this kit, so when I saw it, I had to get it.

North Louisiana and Gulf boxcar. I always get these as and when they crop up at shows. I plan to make another Louisiana based layout at some point, so I'm always happy to add to the fleet.

Virginian, TAG and CoG boxcars. I've not got any wagontop cars, so the Virginian and TAG cars couldn't be passed up.

Norfolk and Western coal hoppers. I'm modelling Appalachian coal hauling roads - this was a no-brainer.

I also came away with a load of new O scale stuff for my exhibition layout in the works, but that's for another forum!

This is it on my layout I made some minor changes to it.

This was a very nice kit to build http://www.janbouli.com/?p=alehouse.html

As long as I can model in N-scale, I know I'm not old

    Ooooh, cheers Jan!

Mind if I copy your build - as the balcony looks much better on the side?

Per my MO, I purchased a pair of Life Like FA-2 / FB-2 locos that were listed as not-working. These were the original version (plastic frames w/ lead weights) but both units were supposedly powered. Anyway opened them up and was very surprised to find that they were wired for DCC. Luckily I have my DCC test track still setup so I could put them on the track to see what is going on. Seems that both decoders are working but the locos need to be cleaned and lubed (that part I was expecting) - one ran a bit choppy but the other did not (motor tried to turnover but too much gunk).

EDIT: Got them running and fabricating a weight for the B-unit.

I've acquired something I know is universally popular... an F40PH!

Sorry about the shaky phone video, it's a bit hard to get good still photos with the lights on without DCC.

So this isn't N scale, but it helps me pay for my N. And, more importantly, it came out of the NP Glendive depot!!! As did the chair! Now, I got it from a customer, but it was refinished by a friend of mine who is a retired NP/BN brakeman. He will be able to tell me more about it.

Do you have a link to his listing? It is very nice work and price seems very reasonable, have a few cars that are looking to "new"

Model Railroad Hobbyist has a couple of articles on modeling water.
For the newcomers, MRH is free -- just sign on and you will get regular updates. Like most mags it is slanted toward HO but things like scenery techniques can apply across the scales.

When I'm ready to build the town on my planned layout, here's a little something for the downtown area:

It appears to have had an awning over the front door and windows at one time and I think I'll add that back.

OMG! I would've killed for those! Congrats! Why didn't I check out Ron's thread earlier!!!!! At least I got some WS talus I really needed and a Kato apartment building I've been wanting. But those stripmalls are to die for! By the way, I did receive my 5% credit, @69Z28! Thank you!

Da Mooses were up in Port Angles, WA this weekend, and of course, while in Port Angles, Moose had to go into the last best model railroad hobby shop in the state: Pacific Rim Hobbies ... ... ... And, of course, picked something up.

Unfortuneatley, it was a stinkin' disease'el!
