This arrived today from the USA. $35 plus $25 shipping and customs fee.

Hornby Arnold U25C. I've got another in L&N colours on the way to go with it. I'm told that the L&N favoured the U25C in consists of 3 to haul the heavy coal drags out of the Kentucky coalfields. Due St. Charles being pretty much sat on top of the Virginia/Kentucky border, I'm using modellers licence to have them run the mine trains on my layout too. The L&N used to lease a lot of power from the Penn Central, so this locomotive being in the consist isn't all that far fetched either.

Well, I've ordered a few things. Luckily most are back-ordered!

First, and coming Monday, a Fleischmann BR 101, DCC with sound.

Next up is a Kato/Hobbytrain Lemke ICE 4. Pre-ordered, not yet in production - just like the prototype!

Finally, an ICE 401, DCC with sound and all cars with factory lighting:

And the extra cars to make it a full train:

I don't expect the last three of these to come in for some time - perhaps years for the ICE 4. Should give me the time to fill the piggy bank in anticipation. It seems that production runs of model trains do not go on for very long. If one sees something that one likes, it is best to order it pronto.

As for the finances, in the words of Scarlett O'Hara, "I'll think about that tomorrow."
    Cheers!

A second ScaleTrains Big Blow #26 with DCC/Sound. Could not pass up bidding on ebay. Price was run up $56 by other bidder last 20 seconds (all's fair), but still won by a margin of $300 under current retail. But now I have two identical units numbered 26 ??? But I may just alter the number and have two units. Still have a load of cash from the sale of my 1995 Mustang GT. What to buy next??? LOL

Note: New unit is for one to one trade for any other 8500 HP Turbine number other than #26 (new, not run of course).

The role of the 2nd place bidder is so interesting... as sellers, to get high prices you need at least 2 bidders that really want something... as a buyer the key is to avoid that second serious bidder becoming aware of the item you are bidding on...
