Default What are you buying this month (Nov 2017)?

Parent company has deemed that "most" future power purchases will be yellow and red. That's it. In that vein, two used IM SD40T-2's have been ordered in SP merger red and yellow. That is all, for now.

So all kodachrome or do you have some other paint scheme that fits that criteria?

An Intermountain F7B in Southern tuxedo scheme. That gives me Intermountain F7 ABB.
    A Roundhouse 50’ PS-1 BCR in CoG.
2 Rapido Smooth side baggage express cars in CoG.
Micro-Trains Heavyweight Express Baggage, and Heavyweight 10-1-2 Sleeper, both Undec.
Micro-Trains Heavyweight Baggage, and 12-1 Sleeper, in NW maroon and black scheme.

The B unit and the 50’ ps-1 arrived a few days ago, but I’m counting them for Nov.
But the rest is still in transit.
I have to be creative sometimes with expenditures at the end of month.
This must be submitted to the CFO.
And the couch is not all that comfortable.

Well, the CD is technically an October purchase but it arrived today... most pleased with it. The LNWI is a true November purchase though. Present plan is to have it end up at the club most of the time.

Actually, the key word was "most". UP also fits, and since they merged with just about every western road (excepting the BNSF family), the options for UP-patched units are wide open! Since the parent company (SFSRy) is not part of the BNSF system, anything goes...

AHHR's acquisition department has placed an order for a couple of standalone well cars capable of carrying 53 foot cans in both spaces, and a 195 ton 8 axle flatcar. Some maintenance equipment was also acquired, as the guys in the engine shops have been clamoring for better solutions for keeping the power running.
Welcome to the AHHR, where Steam and Diesel work together!

Since they have started to appear on line (from Japanese dealers) I'm assuming the Kato Hiawatha will be showing up some time this month....the 9 car set and an ABA (for Milwaukee ABC) set of FP7s with DCC.

I went to the Neuse River Valley Model Railroad Club show today. I hadn't planned to buy, just look at some trains and talk to some friends, but I stumbled onto a couple of things I couldn't walk away from(believe me, I tried).

First some Laurel Valley hoppers - special run for Lee Weldon and couple of years ago. I didn't have the scratch when they came out, but end up with a nice discount. Click image for larger version.

And a Southern FB unit to go with the A I got two years ago at the same show. Click image for larger version.

I tried both dealers with DCC products there, but neither had the decoder for this. Back to mailorder.

More info on the show in Weekend update when I can.

The holidays are around the corner and I want to be ready! Plus a portion gets donated to charity by Kato.

My first major purchase in many many years as when my son left the hobby so did I. I waited year after year for him to come back and unfortunately to no avail. Sigh! So I ain't waitin' for anyone now!

MBK always have the greatest prices and no exception to these but at the time when I ordered they had a 10% off coupon for train sets. And the two add on cars count as a "train set" also. $17+off their already good prices!

Gorgeous aren't they? Congrats! I think I have "enough" Kodachromes (two InterMountain SD40T-2s and one Kato SD45) since I plan to order a bunch of SP bloody-nose InterMountain SD40T-2s when they release in 2018.

update......just got notification that the 9 car Hiawatha set has shipped, which means it's paid for so it now qualifies for a purchase......hope the locos follow soon. I also bought a new (but old stock) MRC Prodigy Advanced DCC system.......been wanting a backup for my elite, and also one to take to NTRAK setups. The club is DC, so if you want to run DCC you have to bring in your own. Unhooking mine from the home layout was a pain.

A happy update! I won the loco on ebay! I am so happy that I managed to win my final Norfolk Southern Heritage loco from a guy in Indiana, one of the two states where I have my layout based. Not only that, the loco also has a decoder already fitted. I bought the loco and the decoder for less than the loco would have cost brand new.

    Very happy indeed!
