Default Operation North Pole becomes an annual offering.

KatoUSA, Metra and Operation North Pole have joined forces for an annual Christmas Train!

Well it seems the 2015 ONP Wrapped Metra train was such a success...

that Kato will be offering a 2016 version.

    But wait!

    There's more...

In addition to the F40, 2 coaches and coach/cab, two extra wrapped coaches are available separately! Included with the expansion cars is a book style storage case that fits the whole train.

Best thing about buying this, is not a cool train, but you will be helping kids with life threatening illnesses!

Because this train sold out very fast in North America, you might have to buy one from Japan...

Ordered a set about a week ago. Went the whole 9 yards and got the two add on cars two. VERY nice looking set. And lucky me, at the time, MBK was have a 10% sale on any train sets so save $17+ right there! My timing was perfect as shortly thereafter the add on cars were sold out.

As you sad, part of the profits get donated to charity.

Sweet little set and if I could afford it I'd buy it if only to have sometihng running 'round the tree every year.

Kinda wish they'd do the same thing with Steam. IIRC it's SOO 1003 that also does something christmasey most years and it'd be lovely for us to have that available to go with ONP.

Has anyone out there added v2 (11-212) lighting to there ONP coach cars? I have two questions. I'll be running it first on DC until I get a decoder for DCC.

Does the outside painting of the windows have any effect on the brightness and/or color? I've read a few comments that the LEDs are too bright and to use the orange "lenses" to tone down the brightness and warm up the color. But this is for normal coaches. I'm wondering if the outside painting effectively does this without the need to install the orange lenses.

For the cab coaches, I'm assuming the plastic light disbursement bar is too long and a section will have to be snapped off for fitment due the red/white running lights taking up space?

I have not ordered the kit yet but will soon.

The orange filter is not needed on the gallery cars. It is actually used to give the lighting kit the look of incandescent lamps used in older equipment. The NS cars use either fluorescent or LED lighting and have a blueish white color.
