    Default Local club

I visited the local N scale club, first time in probably ten years. They have an extensive HO scale layout, on multiple levels (of course), and an N-Trak layout, that has approximately a dozen or so modules. They do own their building, so that is an advantage. I have to join the NMRA (blackmail-but I guess it helps their bottom line on insurance issues), and their dues are not too bad (have to pay electric and sewage bills, plus taxes). I would have preferred an N Scale only, but in the long run it's cheaper to join than purchasing a new house so I can build my own layout. Just wish N scale layout at club had room to expand. Well, can only hope for a small fire, or lightning strike, on the east portion of the structure.

Finally, after years of collecting, I will now have a place to run my choo-choos.

Way to go, Chuck! I'll be looking for the videos. I find it a little odd, though? I mean you running your ARR on a track in FL? LOL Congrats.
    N-joy!

They had a long BNSF lash-up, and a local running on one of the tree mains. Layout is both DC and DCC. Ted, maybe I'll "accidentally" dust several feet of modules in flour, and "Alaskanize" it.

Our club is both scales - about 30% n-scale. There's a lot of advantages of sharing the space vs trying to run two separate clubs. One of my biggest surprises over the years of being in a club is the quality of friendships I have made. You really will get out of it based on what you contribute.

A modular setup provides lots of options for learning as you go. If you're new to certain areas (scenery, trackwork, etc), you can build the module off to the side and then insert/swap when it's up to snuff and ready for display. I'm sure there will 1-2 modules in the collection that are old and need an overhaul - a great way to jump and in figure things out. I've just donated by 2 n-trak modules to two new member to learn on. They'll strip it down and start fresh.
