Sim, those are great shots. I’ve really got to get down there and try to get a few myself.

Nice to see the other contributors on this thread as well...

Just west of Fallon, MT. A load is passing the empty waiting on the siding, The mostly cloudy sky has the way out hills lit up dramatically, thank God He put me out here in this part of the country! These huge vistas and open skies just fill me with awe and wonder, still!!PIC_0047.jpgPIC_0052.jpg
And on the west end of the empty, a grain train also meets them right after the load. So, out goes the conductor in the timeless act of a 'roll-by inspection.'PIC_0055.jpg

A trip out to western KY/TN, wanted to chase the West Tennessee Railroad but it didn't quite work out. Did see one other shortline however (and scored $300 at the local casino, so I guess it was a good trip.)

These two HLCX GP38s and caboose are part of a new short line in Union City,TN. They should hopefully get an IC inspired paint job at some point.

The TennKen Railroad in Dyersburg,TN operates with three GP28s. Something you sure don't see every day! (I think only 20-30 were ever built.) These units retained their IC roadnumbers into TennKen ownership. The other two units were under the shed in the distance in the second photo, inaccessible.

The West Tennessee Railroad Fulton Turn rolling into Fulton. I wanted it to get to Fulton early to chase it south, but it didn't get to Fulton until 3:30 local time, and still had to wait for CN to clear. This meant that it would be several more hours before it even got back to Jackson, and I would've run out of daylight before that.

One from today, a train on the not-very-busy CSX LH&STL Subdivision, known to local railroaders and railfans as the "Texas".

Drove by the gravel pit yesterday, which is up the Redwater branch, the former NP line to Circle and Brockway, and was able to get a drive by of them unloading a pipe train while an empty gravel train was being spotted. FUN!

Boy, I'll say. SO convenient! Down in the basement running trains and hear a rumble. Run upstairs and sit on the porch to watch the real one go by. When it's gone, run back down stairs to run the little ones again.

Last week, was surprised to happen upon a gaggle of track speeders in my hometown.

It turned out to be the last day of a week-long Pacific Railcar Operators tour around Montana, featuring one travel segment each of former MILW, former NP, and former GN. I counted 21 of these making their way south on the Mission Mountain Railroad, escorted by a company pickup truck.

Handful of photos attached for your viewing pleasure. Time did not permit chasing them along the branch. Did see a few of them being loaded back onto their trailers in the evening, and at least one stayed in the area until the weekend and got itself in the newspaper: http://flatheadbeacon.com/2018/06/11...trail-designs/ Further reading of the newspaper says that they were giving rides to the public on Thursday the 7th, the day after I saw them -- a bit late for me to sign up now!
