    @JohnE: We have gotten lots of good feedback from you, Charles and Ryan (also on this thread) about the Inventory functionality on TroveStar. Similar to Charles and Ryan, we would like to show you our appreciation for taking the time to use TroveStar and share your experiences about it and send you the Pan Am Railways car we gave away at the Winterfest convention at the 2018 Amherst Train Show.

    Is it just me, or is there no body style for the Kato RS-2 from the pull down? @Jenna

    PS: completed loco inventory. https://www.trovestar.com/general/cart/view.php?Cart=93

    While I don't have a lot of rolling stock, not sure I'm ready to tackle that yet

    Well, I was going to try starting up an inventory this evening, but no luck.

    I logged in with my Google account, and then went to http://www.trovestar.com/general/car...p?Collection=4 as instructed in the OP. I also tried clicking on "Collections" on the left side bar.

    With the first link, I get a table with OTHER PEOPLE's collections, but no form or anything (as shown in the OP) to create my own. When I click the "Collections" link on the left, I get the "Inventory Selector" title bar, and a blank page (except the links down the left side).

    Same result on my Mac with Chrome, Safari *and* Firefox.

    Hello Charles: I checked out your Inventory...nice job. Glad you were able to make use of this functionality on TroveStar.

    And it looks like you are correct...we do not have the Kato RS 2 body style on TroveStar.

    We can add that...please just be patient...things are quite busy here.

    Hello TwinDad: Sorry for the delayed response...been traveling on college visits with my daughter.

    Glad you are interested in using TroveStar and sorry to hear you are having some difficulties.

    I recently updated our blog article about using the Inventory functionality. I mention this because I'm not sure it was clear to folks that they request permission to access the collection that interests them before they can access the Inventory features.

    I did check to see whether you had a permit and did not find anything under TwinDad. If you would like to share your e-mail (via private message) then I can check that way.

    Can I suggest that you take a look at the revised blog, and let me know if you still have any issues.

    I look forward to hearing from you. Jenna.

    Today, I was able to (nearly) complete the entry of all my loco's and deisels. I felt the process worked very quickly, smoothly and allows the user to search for a component via name or even just using the manufacturer's model or item number. Out of 34 items (loco's and diesels) I tried to enter only two could not be found in the database. (pretty good in my opinion).

    So far, I'm pleased with the program.

    OK, seems to all be working now. I've created a database, I just have to add stuff to it.

    I don't suppose there's a CSV upload option?

    I created an inventory and selected add stuff. I searched for and found my hopper by searching for the road number, 82600. I see the hopper, but I don't see that "Add to active inventory" widget.

    Trying again I see two inventories with the same name... I've been fooling with this for maybe a half hour - but so far my txt file in Notepad is a lot easier.

    @zosimas You're right, Kato RS-2 was missing.
    Fixed now. And I have entered one item of this series if you want to restart from an existing one rather than create a new from scratch:
    http://www.trovestar.com/generic/zoom.php?id=145277
    Need more time to retrieve the full series, as this an old release not even available in Kato website archives.

    @NtheBasement

    Glad to hear you are trying to use TroveStar's Inventory functionality. Sorry to hear things are not going smoothly. We are happy to help. I am wondering if you have requested a permit to access the N scale db and that's why you are not seeing the option to Add to Active Inventory.

    We cana also pursue this if you like via private message if this is easier.

    Look forward to hearing back from you. Jenna

    Just wondering why someone couldn't attain the same end with an Excel document on their computer. Upload a copy to cloud storage and another on a flash or SD card kept in a secure location. I don't see any particular advantage to using someone else's platform, especially since that platform may not stay in existence.

    I maintain my own with Excel and how much I paid for each piece of equipment and where I bought it along with the usual data (road name, number, etc.). I also track sell price for anything I sell.

    After a change I generate a PDF and put it on my phone. This way I can always check when I'm at a train show or event.

    You do have to type more but it's only once.

    that is my concern as well, which is why i asked them if they will eventually add the functionality to download something like a .csv file.

    i like how it puts all the information about a model on one page, prototype and model manufacturer info as well as railroad info.

    i still maintain a google sheet, but unfortunately with sheets there isnt an easy way to insert a photo along with the record. My OS is Linux, and i dont use microsoft office. so i have a photo album on flickr for pictures. would be nice to have that all on one page, which is where trovestar comes in.

    PS: they do keep backups so if they get hacked or something information can be restored, at least there is that.
