Hi guys and ladies, I'm planning on using manual turnouts and ground throws on my layout. I'm using Atlas track. I have some used remote turnouts in Atlas. Can these be taken apart and made into manual ground throw type turnouts? NEWBIE

Yes- the motors on the Atlas turnouts (Iassume we're talking about Code 80) are easily remoned. Just take out the two small screws and the turnout motor comes right off. Then substitute your ground throws.

Just a small note. All capital letters is considered SHOUTING. Try not to use them unles you are really, really, really, really mad at someone or something. :D No offense intended.

I know, we covered this previously with NEWBIE, and walked trough how to make fonts appear larger in IE for ease of viewing... Using all caps to make text more legible only works for your post, and does not help will the rest... but using Page > Zoom, makes everything bigger, and means you don't have to shout to see your words... Re-typing posts is also getting old :(

I am really interested in this also. Which ground throws do you use? I have many Atlas #6's that I'd like to convert to ground throws... or even under the table. Thanks, --Ed

Manual Turnouts
Turbine682 The Caboose Industries Ground-Throws will fit the 'De-powered' Atlas units BUT be aware that the Atlas units have a connecting hole in only one side of the throw-bar unlike the Peco points which have a hole in each end of the trow-bar.. (at least, the ones I've used have this) This can make things a little interesting in terms of locating the ground throw. You will need to cut away the plastic 'plate' that the motor sat on - a pair of side-cutters can do the job rather than a craft knife. Take one apart (a non-operational one if you can), and have a look, then decide from there what you want to do. If you DO go the manual way, I did a 'how-to' in respect of using stationery staples as actuating bars which you might find of interest(though I can't access my postings to give you the correct title for it - perhaps Admin/Bryan might be able to do so . . .). Hope this is of use. Komata "TVR - serving the Northern Taranaki . . . "
