So im looking at Walthers well cars.

does any one have these or have opinions on them?

im lookin at a three car set so thats why im askin.

I'm looking for info on the Flexi-vans used by NYC and others back in the early days of intermodal. Walthers makes them in HO, but I'd like to make one in N. I'm looking for pictures or drawings. I'm especially interested in the ones Illinois Central used for mail on the front of some of their passenger trains.

I would like to use the 2 tracks at the bottom in Karolville as an intermodal yard. Could it work.

Has anyone out there made their own drawbars? If so what did you use and how did you do it? I am seeking to drawbar connect a 3-unit set of CP Rail well cars rather than use couplers-- the real thing were drawbarred. any help is appreciated,

Has anyone ever come across dimensions and/or drawings of the container saddles used by BN in the early part of the 90's for placing 2 28' containers in the top postion of a wellcar? Thought this would be neat little scratch building project. I have several photos to work from. Just thought see if any exsisted before i begin....

Hi guys.   I, and probably a lot of other guys, am trying to find some Canadian containers.  I have Goolgled the google out of this and can't find anything in N, just HO.   Any one have any leads?  I am after some Canadian Tire (seen here in HO) and some Bay/Zellers (seen here in HO)  Thanks!

Hello folks,

 How much do the DI container weights weigh?  I'm a skinflint at heart, and having a load of 1/4" diameter brass rod lying around, it seems mad to buy weights when I could easily make them myself!

 Thinking 'aloud', I suppose I could use the NMRA formula and weight the containers so that when added to the cars, one ends up with them weighing the NMRA recommended weight.

 Anyone got any thoughts?

S&R MODELS announces three new Custom Decal sets. First two are for TOFC flatcars.

Set #SRM-5015 - Terminal Alabama State Docks (TASD) Port of Mobile lettering. Five road numbers/sets are available. This set is for a YELLOW TOFC flatcar from 1978. Lettering is Red & Black. $5.00 each.

He found these on ebay.. pretty cheap but Cant find anything about them in google. Was wondering if anyone knew anything of these? Worth it ??

For the sake of being New to N scale i have one Question so far about intermodal.

 

Is it me or does it seem Quite Expensive? Is Intermodal relatively New for N scale?

I like KATO's 53' TTX containers with thin magnetic layers. It seems more practical than a blue tack.

Anywhere I can buy thin magnetic strips to apply on my containers? Thanks in advance.

 Has anybody tried to kitbash the MDC husky stack into 53' cars? I have about 30 or so laying around and would like to run a solid train of 53' cars. I have 5 Kato 3-unit 53's but I was wanting to do a cheaper car.  If nobody has done them I guess I just have to jump in and cut and glue some up and see how they turn out.

I have heard of, but never seen, of a rebuilt Maxi III with only 4 cars due to an accident. Does anybody have any pics or know where to find them?

I have a damaged Maxi III set I got on Ebay and would like to model such if I could find a prototype photo for it.

I have 6 boxes of katos intermodel, and I am not very impressed. I am using atlas and pico track. I have a lot of problems with them derailing. I also have walters intermodel (5 boxes of 5), I have converted them to microtrains coupler and these just rock. The walters have a metal frame, and weigh more. also the connections are better. I found out that the kato connects break easy.
