Gallery Progress

I am still working on the gallery. It will probably be a day or two before it is done. Go ahead and use it now. The pictures you will find in the nscale.net archive gallery are only for testing purposes. They will all be replaced after I am done.

Points?

DesertRat's picture

I am new at using this site.... If some one could expalin something I would appricate it.

I posted a comment to a post earlier this evening.... I came bace later to correct a misspelled word and I lost 3 points?

Not that how many points I have means much but did I do something wrong?

The Gallery

DesertRat's picture

I just posted pictures of my last layout in my Gallery.

Question: Did I do it correctly? Is is going to show up as a post on the list of recent forum activity?

Is it only me or is there......

....something wrong with the home page.

Tonight the right hand column is located at the bottom of the page. I had to scroll all the way down to find it.

The left hand column is completely missing.

At first I thought that my window was too narrow. (That happened on my old computer.)
But, I opened the window to full screen and the problem remained.  (I now have a 24 inch flat panel wide screen monitor.)

If its just me, let me know and I will go away and eat worms.

Have fun.

Locomotive Flywheels

MooseID's picture

Here are a few questions I have about flywheels in locomotives, N scale of course.
I do not have any specific locomotives in mind, therefore I do not need specific information.
I am looking for a general knowledge of the subject.
I understand the physics of the flywheels and how/why they add momentum and inertia to the operation of the locomotives.

Can flywheels be installed in locomotives that were built without them?

Can additional flywheels be added to locomotives that do have them?

We have moved FHS

fifer's picture

Hi all , just a note to let all of you know we have now completed our move to a new sever and shopping cart. We are still working on some minor issues and letting you know to refresh your browser if you can not access anything.
We are happy with many of the new features for us , to help us , help you.
The biggest issue is a more accurate inventory tracking program and faster server.
Hope you all are getting ready to get back to the building season , as I am!
Thanks , Mike & Robin

Storing locomotives

Trainster's picture

I am in the process of finishing my layout, not news, I know, but question, is there any concern if I keep them out of dust and dirt, is there any other precaution I should give the locomotives if I say, store them for an extended period of time? My home is heated and air-conditioned, so climate is not a problem.

Please advise.

Having a small layout consisting of two 30" x 60' modules butted to each other, I find that powered A&B units run best with long trains on the layout.  I have 2-8-0 steam,  0-6-0 steam, and some GE Dash Units.   If I were to leave the train running, walk away and come back 30 minutes later, the A&B units would still be running flawlessly navigating the tight turns and hills with no problems.  But the others will occassionaly get hung up perhaps on a switch located on a tight turn.  Therefore, I like to have a reservoir of the A&B units to run 2-3 long trains at one t

Is something wrong with the gallery?

ranulf's picture

I posted a new subfolder named Leafpeeping into my Gallery last night.  The subfolder IS there, I can view it in the Gallery, but cannot access the new subfolder to addthe photos in it to a blog post or forum post.  The subfolder doesn't show up in the list.  Is it not automatically updating or something?

Bad economic times can produce great buys

SPO_RR's picture

After the House of Representatives rejected the Bail Out Plan earlier in the week I was shopping on Ebay.  This new Bachmann Spectrum GE Dash unit as posted on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/BACHMANN-SPECTRUM-N-GE-DASH-8-40CW-TRAIN-CSX-86054_W0QQitemZ370085883973QQihZ024QQcategoryZ19122QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 for a Buy Now price of $38.00 (which is not all that unreasonable at that price) was up for
