  1. Visiting the Zephyr project

I had a small flurry of work I did to the Fine-N-Scale 9900 Zephyr back in November. This kit has been laying around for 19 years now, and for some reason today, I grabbed it again from the shelf and got a bit more work done.
The trucks were spread to accept the axles and then reshaped to try to retrue the squareness in the 3 planes, as well as space the wheels on the axles properly. Once that was good, I stuck it on the tracks (not easy since it is an articulated train) and applied forward ...

  2. Weeks' Update (22th Mar 2022)

Assembled a couple of Downtown Deco Hydrocal plaster buildings.
A few other details taken care of during the week prior...Added roofs to several assembled kits, as well glazing. Did some detail touch-up, too.
Still haven't received the Kato couplers I ordered from Japan. Hope they come soon-ish.
Added some more roadways around the river, began a South Park Hobbies car sides conversion of a ConCor donor to a diner-dorm. I will need to revive the airbrush and skills for same for ...

  3. Share Video-Six Routes active

Taken a couple of days ago after a session of "get the frog powered RIGHT" (which still has a ways to go), the view of six different trains on their respective loops, all under separate control. They are running a bit fast here, since some tracks are still dirty and I didn't want to chase down stalls while grabbing this video. There are two more routes that are powered, but they require some manipulation of turnouts to achieve full loops; that will need additional detection and computer ...
  4. An annual update and a tl;dr tale of my E-2A "SF-1"

I've begun adding buildings of all sorts to the Chicago Layout, concentration on the La Salle corner for the most part. Haven't ballasted an inch of track yet, but that will be one of the last chores to tackle. I've also been updating the power stable, running in some of the loco's that have been boxes for maybe a decade in some cases. Also testing different equipment on the complete loops, finding the 'gotcha's' of tracking issues.

  5. A long overdue update, and some forum entries in here, just to get my feet wet again!

The year and a few months that have passed have, for the most part, been beneficial to the layout. I've still got about 10% of the wiring yet to go, and I've had to revise some revisions along the way, as well as bug hunt and troubleshoot those (mostly self inflicted) gremlins. I find I must get "up" for the occasions that I lie on my back on a mechanics' creeper under the layout, pulling wires to their control panel switch designations, then pulling track power from it's feed to the frogs, ...
