I'm still on the mock-up phase of the Grand Central Station build. Made a foam core bone structure that I clip walls to as I complete them. These Brick sheets will also have an underlayment of art matte board, so essentially, every wall gets cut out twice.

To go along with the Lee's Coveralls ad I created for the back of CMT 9 story, I always intended to create a building similar to Chicago's Grand Central Station. I know the ad was visible from Dearborn Station, but that building never held a visual appeal for me, and I also didn't have enough room to have both Dearborn & GC. Northwestern, while it is a very nice station, also had no room, and I felt that it was well beyond my capabilities to do it justice. so-

After living with the backdrop (Scene is Burlington, Ia., along the river, originally 2 mated rolls 8' long, mounted on 2' Polypropylene sections) in as photographed order, I eventually disliked the fact that the more rural portion was situated behind the La Salle Station and urban area, and the denser city was backdrop view where my boondocks were on the layout. This project has been hanging over my head for almost two decades. When I got my order from Backdrop Warehouse, I had enormous intentions. Eventually, life went on, but a layout didn't.
Now that I do have the time for modeling, I felt that it was time to tackle the backdrop. I wanted to try last Thursday, then Friday, but Santana winds put a stop order up. This weekend was going to be it, but the Grandchild would be staying with us the entire weekend.
So today I got busy on the project. ...

I wouldn't call is a side track, but I was starting a re-wheelset project for some of the more senior of my passenger cars. Data I had was of some use, but the first axle I pulled to replace didn't match the published dimension. So, as I had a few cars laying about at hand, I grabbed the calipers and dug into the subject for myself. What info I've gained is no where near defining, but will be adequate for my needs, and I am sharing my link to a Google table I have begun.
